Triumph oil quandary

    Hmm,

The sprint could really do with an oil and filter change.

Matey who I bought it from (who seemed to be a knowledgeable sort of
chap) advised on pain of death not to use fully synthetic oil in it as
it would **** the clutch. Having nodded in agreement, remembering a
similar thread here ages ago, I checked the owners manual when I got
home, which recommends semi or fully synth, but positively extols the
virtues of MOBIL 1, Racing 4T fully synth, stating that it's what their
    dealers use.

I have always used Halfrauds Semi Synth "Oil for 4 stroke motorcycles"
in the Zephyr, is this a suitable lubricant for the Triumph, or should
    I get something more exotic?

He's talking bollocks. Putoline Syntec fully synth is what Flitwick
Motorcycles put in new 955is. I'm not exactly sure what grade i.e 5W/50
or 10W/40, but that's what they use - I've never heard of a 955i giving
problems with fully synth either. My 955i Daytona never had any issues
with it. You wouldn't go wrong using semi-synth, but don't be afraid to
use a quality fully synth of the correct grade if you have a desire to.

    Righty ho

Was giving the bike the once over on Sunday, and noticed that the gear
lever retaining bolt was just about to drop out, having unscrewed
itself. That would prolly explain the slightly sloppy gearchange.

Anyhoo, have scored a black bellypan off ebay today, ordered a new
number plate (the one on it is a cut down car plate and looks fucking
shite). Next thing on the list is a double bubble screen.

Oh, and the Zephyr seems to have 9 watchers, so optimism is fairly high.

MOBIL 1 Racing 4T is normal Mobil 1 BUT it has no friction modifiers like
the car version so is safe for wet clutches.

Make that ten. They're all posters here who want to laugh when you get
    three and six for it.

    [snip]

The Daytona (T595 version) is on fully synth. It's a 98 model and it's
still fine clutch-wise. It are being wot da manual are saying to do etc.
