What's to be said about this bike? Doesn't Gower have one? or similar?
Guy here want's $2500 for a 1999 model. In the ad he claims:

"1999 Triumph Legend 900. Has About 19,000 miles. Runs decent. Has some
scratches on the front fender, side cover, and right exhaust pipe.
Couple of small dents in the tank. Needs a new ignition switch. I have
a key that works (not the original). Needs Instrument parts. Gets 35-40
MPG. I was driving it daily but I like my Harley more. To many toys
    need to sell."

The broken ignition makes me wonder if it's nicked. How would one find
    out here?

Good idea. Will do that. Although the price sounds pretty good, the
rest appears a bit odd. The damage to it, even if only little, raises a
    question too I suppose.

It means it's been crashed and written off as totaled by the insco.

Don't be in too much of a hurry to buy something -- unless you're totally
desperate for transportation, which you might well be, having just arrived
in town. Check out some of the bike shops. There's a few of them in
Oceanside (about 35 miles north of La Jolla), with a good selection of used
    bikes.

PeterT@Home scribbled on the back of a napkin:
As muddy says, it's been crashed, plus the "runs decent" part would
    definitely put me off.

Not to mention the "needs instrument parts" which probably needs means
    it needs replacement clocks.

So it's a crashed bike that is marked as the equivalent of a cat C or
cat D write-off that still needs at least some of the rebuild work
doing. It's also six years old and the bloke wants 2.5k.

    He's having a giraffe.
