ok, left Garland , Tx at 6:30 am thurs. about 9 hrs later arrived in "port A" (North Padre). stripped out the shifter shaft on the Harley, had a slow leak on rear tire on gold wing. we still have a long way to go. before the mavs game, went out and rigged up the shifter with a possible solution. had a guy in Garland ,,Fed-Ex a new shifter to the hotel due fri morn. in port A. watched the mavs win at an out door bar called Hooks. got bit by more mosquitos than i knew were on this planet fri morn, no fed ex. had to check out at 11:00 with out new shifter. took the wing to circle k and aired up the suspect tire. almost headed south and saw the fed ex truck go by so went back and got the new shifter shipped from garland. tossed it in the saddel bag... felt like the rig job was good nuff. rolled into port isabel around 4 ish. wing tire almost flat, harley fine. sat. we took a car to wallmart & got some fix flat & stuck it in the wings suspect tire and didnt touch the bikes again till sunday morn. at that time we boogied back to port "A" rode the beach, had dinner, went to a cool bar called "shortys"watched the mavs win while the beer was flowing and the juke box was blasting out Gary P Nunn songs. great time. hit the hay at travel lodge before midnight. monday morn about 7ish, blistered out of town, its time to get home. had a great ride till we got to Austin around noon. big traffic tie-up. hotter than crap, slow moving traffic, the harley eases up to me to tell me the shifter is stripped again. we have to stop now. found some shade, installed the fed ex'ed shifter shipped from garland a few days before, was back on the road quicker than a regular gas stop. HUALED THE MAIL all the way back to dallas, put in around 1400 miles , got a few cool t shirts. saw a few bikini's. go mavs. over and out. back to work....................... j
