Having survived that, a small TIA is nothing.

A friend of mine has had a couple of them (TIAs, not chrome dildos) and
has recovered fine. It's a warning shot, and suitable medication with
lifestyle modification can usually make sure they don't keep happening.

See, all those years of two-stroke addiction have exerted a heavy
    penalty.

What he said. Take it easy for a few days. It might not be a TIA, but
could be something else, unless you have a definitive diagnosis.

E-mail me at ian dot blakeley at cmmc dot nhs dot uk (work addy and at
work tonight from 8pm till 8am) if you want to know anything else.
Failing that, try ianblakeleyo2 at o2 dot co dot uk and I'll try and get

    Also known as a mini-stroke.

Bit of a misnomer really that. It's the patronising medicals professions way
of explaining it in laymans terms.
Basically scares the shit out of people though.
    Nursed loads of the feckers.
    See above :)

Basically, transient ischaemic basically means "lack of blood" or "oxygen"
so its an interruption of blood flow (and hence the oxygen the blood
    carries) to the brain.
This causes a bit of damage to some cells and generally the symptoms are
gone completely within 24 to 48 hours in my experience. I dont think ive
ever nursed anyone in 15 years that's had any lasting effects.
Neurologist eh? That's good, means you're not coing to bedford :)

I would doubt that he'll be able to tell you exactly what's happened there
and then, without some further tests.
One of the most common reasons is a narrowing of the carotid artery which is
your major artery through the neck to your brain. Also, didnt you bang your
noggin some months ago? I dont honestly know enough about the subject to say
whether trauma could be a factor, but i would have thought that unlikely
this far on from the incident.

Your not diabetic are you, thats another risk factor IIRC.

I have to say you are doing the right thing by seeing a doc asap just in
case as if it is a blockage or partial block of the carotid, the last thing
you want is for it to block properly in which case, wellllll......... you
know those nice snap on tools,,,,,, anyone else got dibs on them? :)
