Went for a run yesterday & it felt well ropey, no power at all, in fact felt like running on one. Then, after a couple of miles it burst into life full chat, but then the problem of the revs slow to return to idle came back. I took it for a good fucking thrashing over to my mates. He adjusted the idle speed & twiddled with some other carb thing & hey presto it's running sweet! I reckon the choke was stuck on one cylinder until it got a bit hotter? -- Nige, BMW K1200S Honda Transalp XL600V Range Rover Vogue
If all else fails, thrash the **** to death with a bit of high revving violence. And if that doesn't work, use more violence. -- Beav VN 750 Zed 1000 OMF# 19
Already done matey! Just out of interest, how much to paint a whole bike black? Good panels etc I could strip it for you? The whole bike panel & wheels that is? Rough price..

Drain the float bowls and check for crud. Reset the pilot screws to Hondas recommendations. Check the HT caps + spark plugs. The front plug is a bit of an arse to get to. Worth checking the valve clearances too. The slow return to idle may be because some twonk has dicked about with the pilot mixture screws and utterly arsed it up. Get some fully synthetic two stroke oil and run it on a 75:1 mix. The detergents will help clean any crud in the fine passages. Don't bother with Redex. It doesn't need doing very often Ask him what he twiddled with. Get the carbs balanced. Possibly. Doubtful, but possible. It won't hurt to blather GT-85 over the linkages, then operate them many times to check for movement. Then thrash the daylights out of it.
Cheers, i need it servicing anyway, just to be sure. -- Nige, BMW K1200S Honda Transalp XL600V Range Rover Vogue
I had a roughly similar problem once a few years ago on my Guzzi Quota. It manifested itself as a loss of top-end power: opening the throttle resulted in more vibration but little more in the way of go. I thrashed it in the hope that what ever the problem was would 'burn off'. It seized a mile from home. This was a costly mistake. The original fault? a loose spark plug that was overheating. The really gutting thing about it was that I was going to service it that very weekend.
Info needed Nige. Exactly how many panels are involved? Is the tank involved? Are any of the panels fucked or are they in good nick and not bollocked with stone chips? Do you want gloss or matte finish? Do you want the wheels black or metalic gold/silver/spunk colour? Stickers. You or us? If you, have you got the stickers? Answers on an electromagic postcard please -- Beav VN 750 Zed 1000 OMF# 19
5 plus wheels you, i dont even know where to get em from. tada! -- Nige, BMW K1200S Honda Transalp XL600V Range Rover Vogue
Said response will be advanced to the management for further examination. I notice that the question "Any panels fucked" was suitably ignored. Do I take it that I won't like the answer? And does "5 plus wheels" include the tank or is that a seperate part of the calculation? I shall return. -- Beav VN 750 Zed 1000 OMF# 19
