Trailering the SVS version 2.0- I bought a bunch of Ancra straps:

Quad Pak (Part No. 45211)- two ratchet straps, two pull-thru straps.
Soft Hook Extensions (Part Nos. 45092, 45214) 12" and 18"
Wheel Tiedown Straps (Part No. 41075)

All this kit was a little pricey, but of noticeably better quality
than the cheap straps I had lying around. Plus the straps are of a
more appropriate length, but I still need to figure out how a quick
and secure method of tying down loose strap ends without tying a
    bunch of messy knots.

I was going to buy a Canyon Dancer strap, but with the angle of
the straps going to my front tie-downs, there is no interference
with the fairing from the straps, and I feel better about tying to
the fork tubes/triple clamp than to the clip-ons. Using a Canyon
Dancer with the existing tie down points would also have resulted in
an unfavorable angle for the straps, since the tiedown points are a
    little too close together.

The SVS appears to be ready as it will ever be. I replaced the
trailer's wheel bearings, did some repairs on the taillights and the
trailer wiring connector on the van, so hopefully all is good to go.

Thanks to all for their suggestions.

Overkill? Oh yeah, I remember you! You were the guy in Ontario with his
    Harley flying off the trailer...

Say what you'd like- just got back from pulling the trailer 1800 miles,
about 500 miles of that without the bike on it. The straps worked
great, yeah, I probably don't need the wheel straps but the front one
is nice to quickly secure the bike in place so you can put the main
straps on without worrying about the bike falling over.
