Trailer load insurance

Last time i ever post about this, i promise,

I have a bike trailer now (erde PM310) with the choice of putting the scoot
or the tranny on it, and can tow it with the motorhome, or when i have saved
up for a tow bar, the smart car (which i got yesterday).

My motorhome insurers flatly refuse to insure anything on a trailer, or the
trailer it's self except for 3rd party risks.
Haven't asked the smart insurers, but it's virgin, and they are cheap as
they do no frills, plus i wont be towing the bike trailer much with the
    smart.

I've asked my current bike insurer (ebike) who say no way, they may cover me
for 3rd party when on the trailer... i.e. if it falls off and hurts someone,
for an extra fee, plus a midterm adjustment fee and so on.

I've been asking all the bike insurers i can think of, and either they dont
get back to me, or i get a 'computer says no' reply.

i had a lead to bennets covering the bike whilst on a trailer, but have
found out they dont want to put it into writing properly, someone got it in
writing but it's so vague it could be contested in the event of a claim.

So either i find out that magical bike insurer who will cover the bike when
on a trailer, or i find some independent trailer and load cover, but that
all seems to be commercial stuff, or hoss and hossbox cover, and i need to
do it by the 5th of may.

shirly people with expensive track or off road bikes have them insured when
on a trailer? or do they all have fully comp cover extending to the load on
the trailer from the car policy?

The latter, in my case. It's only standard car insurance, although I've
found taking the "cheapest" option never really works out that way, so I
go for a name I know, cut out all the frills and get a good solid
Comprehensive policy that covers what I need covered. I always ask and
they can never give me an answer straight away - this is a good thing,
'cos if they don't call back within 24 hours I go to the next one on the
    list.

I've only had a couple of car insurers refuse cover for trailer
load/contents: Churchill and Admiral. All the rest - AA, RAC, NU,
Frizzell - have covered me in an extra clause and generally charged
nothing to do so. I think the most I've ever paid for this cover in 25
years of asking for it is £20 and that's a bargain as the trailer would
cost £450 to replace, let alone the possibility of a couple of newish
bikes going west too - or in a WCS taking the sides out of Lanes 1 and 3
when a tyre or wheel bearing lets go.

that's half my problem, i really only have one insurer i can use for my damn
motorhome, there are only really 3 out there that give true cover, others
use a car policy which wont pay out for camping related incidents... gas
bottle going bang, awning taking flight and landing on someone (seen it
happen, made a right mess of the bloke it landed on), and they will only pay
out the value of the base vehicle in a total loss.

one of those insurers are total cunts, tried to cancel a policy i had on my
last van when they heard i went 'rallying' in it!!! what i did was go to
motorhome rallies, i.e. a bunch of old farts in motorhomes meeting up for a
weekend on a campsites rally field and talking shite, getting drunk, acting
like twats, but they all appologise the next day.

The other lot are adrian flux, who for some reason want to fleece me, every
quote i try with them comes to almost a grand, or has silly excesses, just
tried a bike quote with them, they want 600 quid excess, and 400 quid for
the cover that's £240 at ebike, or 160 at some insurer i've never heard of,
and that dosent include trailer cover either.

And there's shield, who i'm with, will cover any self built motorhome, even
mine with tripple the usual self build value as i did a coachbuilt and have
so much stuff in it, but they wont cover a bike on a trailer worth an 8th of
the value of the motorhome they insure,
makes me wish i'd built the van as a rear bed model with a bike garage below
    it.
