Well, I have the serow, and I have been out 4 times - including since 10
this morning. May mate Al and some giant on a big snarling 400 4T have
hauled me round most of the trails they know in the Wells area. I love
green laning, the crashes are funny, there's mud, you get stuck, scared, wet
.... Next time out it's gonna be salisbury plain - fingies crossed (ice cold,
chapped, bleeding fingies at that) .

Best falls - me trying to wheel the bike round after a crash, falling and
dropping it on my chest and thrashing about pathetically. Alan hitting a
rock (or pebble) and suddenly turning through 90 degrees and trying to ride
    up a wall.

    Everyone buy trail bikes!!

Fun ain't it :) You'll love the Plain, although a Serow isn't ideal
for that particular playground - I use the Tiger when I go there.

If you want to find some more people to ride with & different places to
    go, join the Yahoo trailriding/enduro group - www.rides.org.uk There's
a few on there in your neck of the woods.

Well, I feel I've done "mud up to the axles" now - I'm told the plain is a
bit different. Did have one terrifying slippy rocks and mud descent today,
which we then went straight back up - the experienced guy on the 400 said
"once you've done that, you're ready for anything. Oh, and we need to be at
    the bottom." 8oO <aaaarrgh!!>

I am a bit worried by the utter lack of effect from the serow's rear brake -
it's an oldy with a drum rear.

Time to check out that yahoo group of weirdos - and the TRF.

What you can do to try to make it a bit better, is to strip the rear
brake, clean and grease the shaft and maybe replace the shoes if worn...
I did this on my drum braked CG and it improved things no end.
