Whenever I've seen them for a rolling block, they've had "Do Not Pass"
or "Do No Overtake" in the back window.

And when they do a rolling block they do sit in the middle lane, and
slowly move across all three lanes. I've been sat behind them on the
    M5 a couple of times.

And what if you don't happen to be able to read? Or simply don't see the
    message?

The only roadblock I saw in Germany was slightly different in that
    nobody got the all clear.

Then you're clearly too stupid to own a motor vehicle.

    Or foreign ..

When Elly's son Aaron and I were pulled over in Timo's EvoII just
outside Passau, Germany, I saw the scrolling sign in the back of the
Police Audi A6 Avant was trying to tell me something, but hadn't a
fucking clue what it was saying as my Kraut-spreche isn't that good. So
I just followed the guy into a rest area and pulled in behind him.
Turns out I'd done the right thing, because it said "Follow Me" or
    similar.

I've never been so happy to see a sign saying "France"

    Or dylexicified.
Like what my wife is. Fortunately, she can read English as well as her
original language, but there are thousands who can't. And don't forget,
there are a lot of blind fuckers driving around too.

You're not joking. One such blind bint nearly collected me tonight.
Clearly my headlight was invisible to her, as I emergency stopped from
going into the side of her. Had it been last night, in the pissing
rain, it'd have been a 'Zymurgy down' post .. :/

What with all the blind fuckers and idiots out there, I'm thinking that
knitting may be a possibility during the winter.

Heh. See my 'Fucking Freelander' post recently. If I had 4 wheels, i'd
    be using them ..

I need to use the car but it doesn't make it any easier. I'd ride a lot more
if I had the capacity to carry shit loads of "stuff" on the bike. I'd
fucking hate to come off the bike with two Martin D-28's and a Fender Tele
    strapped to the back seat.
