Trackday anyone?

Other than tickets for Glastonbury, I've not actually organised any of
the above, but it's since I know what's likely to happen it's easier to
pencil it in and book the leave at the start of the year before anybody
else gets their oar in. After all, I can always cancel the leave request
    if plans change.

Boss is always rather surprised to see a request for 25 days' leave land
in his inbox on the first day back after the new year, mind.

the main straight is hideously long for a supermoto - the first time I
did that circuit (on my TRX) everyone, and I mean *everyone* was
pissing past the one poor sod on a supermoto, and then bunching up at
the next corner, so he couldn't use his superior flickability to get
past. He didn't seem to be having a good time.

If I were to consider doing a trackday on my KTM, I'd be looking at
    Lydden Hill.

Reading UKRM don't half tax the mind sometimes.

Did you not strap it down properly or something?

Andy should come out to play with the KTM at the Morini Cadwell day.
Still one or two Nordwests and other sub 100BHP stuff in the
intermediate (for MRC values of intermediate) sessions. He can have a go
    on a GFR.

Never been, but I have heard good things from people who have. I'm not
sure they do track days at Three Sisters anymore, because that was IME
the ultimate track for supermoto fun. We had a Morini/Gilera day there
in 2000. Great fun on a Nordwest.

Oh, it's Bike Fell Over is it?

I thought it was Bonwick Fucked Off.

Ah. I was planning to take the 400 Four, for a laugh. You think they
    might not let it out?

    Rather better than 'reasonable'

    </Hm>

I was just thinking it might be considered a bit too slow and wobbly.

    <Thinks>

There again, that description applies to a large chunk of ukrm anyway.

Mined ewe, it can be punted along at surprising velocity if you're
prepared to regard the ND logo on the rev counter as the red line.

Both, really. When it's ridden, it's *definitely* ridden hard because
I don't see the point in pottering a sports bike, even an old low-
powered one. It's fastidiously maintained because it's ridden hard.
When I took it to Chimay a few years ago, I think some people were
startled by just how well it went, and the fact that it went that well
    for mile after mile.

A bit like my Ducati, now I think about it. Thrashed to hell and back,
but the maintenance is taken very seriously. And neither bike is used
in the winter slop. Not. At. All.

I dunno if anyone else remembers, but when Chaz Mortimer ran the
Brands Hatch Race School back in the 1970s, the training bikes were
all 400 Fours. For that reason, if nothing else, I'd like to hammer it
    round a track.

There's no reason why it shouldn't. I've seen NS125s out there before.

He replaced the 400 Fours with RD400Es. I went to watch a mate of mine
do his race school once, I think it was at Mallory but can't be sure.

I bought one of his ex-race school bikes for a couple of hundred once,
it was terminally fucked and I only wanted it for the chassis.

I did a Chas Mortimer[1] racing school at Donington on an RD400, which
was vastly superior to the CB400 *twin* that I rode at a Jeff Crookbain
    session at Mallory.

Ah, I thought better of it, but here it is anyway.

[1] He said at the debriefing afterwards that he had followed me round
for a bit and thought "this one looks like a crasher", but then decided
I must have had a bit of competition experience.

Might be tempted actually if there's room in the slow group and I get
    the Aprilia's major service sorted.
