An interesting day at Hockenheim, by the end of it we had the swimming pool all to ourselves. Have I mentioned it rained? The good, the bad and the ugly. In no particular order. Apexes are a bit further round than I thought. Fishtailing 250kg of Blackbird is interesting. Its all about the entry. You can break a Daytona 955i frame in half. Especially if you've crashed into the wife. The paint on the sides is very slippery. Don't bikes sound nice going at full chat. In the wet, gently does it. Organised through www.ProSpeed.de, 170 european groats for 5 sessions 20 minutes, 2 sessions 30 minutes and 20 minutes on the end, 8 in all, all under instruction, but the last few we were left to our own devices after a couple of laps. 5 riders to a group. There was also an hour free for all in the middle if you fancied it. Anyone not tried a track day, give it a go. The organisation/registration up front is a bit daunting, so going with someone who knows might help. First few laps were very slow, a nice gentle warm up, then faster everytime until the group gets too strung out. Can't really claim it makes you a riding god, but you get the whole width of the tarmac with nobody coming the other way (mostly), so you can give it a few broad ones. Jolly good fun all round really.
