I'm sure you do, you just don't realise you do.

When you're entering a corner, you *do* have the ability to judge how
fast to turn in (be it on a bike or in a car). If you didn't, you'd
    barely be able to drive.

I agree with you. I don't watch for or notice (consciously, anyway) VPs when
    I'm
riding. I was just practicing a spot of pedantry, pointing out the
    inconsistency
    of your statement.

No. It's. Not. I'm never conscious of them, but most certainly use the
shape of a bend ahead to determine whether to throttle off or give it
beans. It's a subconscious thing that people have been using since
long before anybody actually though about analysing it and giving it a
    name.

I found having the speedo taped up proved helpful as I wasn't bothered
about how fast I was going.

    Christofire says...
My track bike hasn't got a speedo fitted. I've ripped the speedo guts
out and left the tacho, oil light, temp gauge and neutral light,
everything else has been painted over with black paint.

I have a complete set of good standard clocks for road use.

I personally subscribe to the "sling it in and start praying"
school of thought on these matters.

This isn't really a good thing, mind.

The last couple of years yes, short-straw. This year the organiser's
neighbour's driving it in exchange for free food & hotels.
