I've always been told that new tyres need scrubbing in for 100 dry miles. How
does this apply to a track bike that is not road-legal? My upcoming NC30
will be road-legal, but probably not forever. <G>

Apply tyre warmers for an hour, get on bike and thrash from first
corner. Failing that, ride around at a gradually increasing pace for
the first three laps and your tyres will be scrubbed in and warm.
Strangely enough most trackday organisers have the first session as a
bit of a sight seeing tour behind an instructor and that might be one
    of the reasons why.

Even road tyres only need 'scrubbing in' until they've had a heat
cycle or done about 5 miles and then they're fine. That's only my
experience btw, it's a rule I follow every time I have new tyres
fitted and I haven't been slung over the top because of new tyres yet.

That's what I did with my CBR's Rennsports.

well, I didn't have access to tyre warmers, but with the new
Rennsports on my 'blade around Snetterton, I did the "take it easy for
2-3 laps and then forget about it" thing, which worked fine.

Best not tell Monz tyres need scrubbing in for 100 dry miles.

He'd barely started the fucking engine on his new Gixxer before his tyre
    edges were looking shagged.

Well, you've seen that 1500W, half-sheet shuffle sander he's got?
There's your answer. That and a couple of sheets of 80 grit.
