Excuse me? If you ride from the Harley dealer AROUND Dallas, Irving
and back...ending up at the Hella Temple...you won't ride 38 miles.
    Maybe you mean 3.8 miles?

At least 3.8 miles would be more inline with the lazy assed gestapo
    Garland meat-headed cops.
I'd like to know what percentage actually ends up in the custody of
Shriner Hospitals and which hospital it goes to?

It goes all thru Garland, out 78 thru Sachse and Wylie, to Rockwall, Rowlett
    and back to Garland.
    Easily 38 miles.
And I can't say for sure how many teddy bears the Garland motorcops keep for
themselves, but I suspect it won't be a whole bunch. I know I won't be
    keeping mine.

    From Charity Navigator:
    http://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm/bay/search.summary/orgid/6493.htm
"Shriners Hospitals for Children is a network of 22 hospitals that provide
expert, no-cost orthopaedic and burn care to children under 18. Founded in
1919, Shriners' mission is to provide the highest quality care to children
with neuromusculoskeletal conditions, burn injuries and certain other
special health care needs within a compassionate, family centered and
collaborative care environment; to provide for the education of physicians
and other health care professionals; and to conduct research to discover new
knowledge that improves the quality of care and quality of life of children
    and families. "

In 2001 it looks like just over 92% of all expenses went directly for
    services.

    List of the hospitals supported:
    Shriners Hospital-Boston (burn)
    Shriners Hospital-Canada (orthopaedic)
Shriners Hospital-Chicago (orthopaedic and spinal cord injury)
    Shriners Hospital-Cincinnati (burn)
    Shriners Hospital-Erie (orthopaedic)
    Shriners Hospital-Galveston (burn)
    Shriners Hospital-Greenville (orthopaedic)
    Shriners Hospital-Honolulu (orthopaedic)
    Shriners Hospital-Houston (orthopaedic)
    Shriners Hospital-Intermountain (orthopaedic)
    Shriners Hospital-Lexington (orthopaedic)
    Shriners Hospital-Los Angeles (orthopaedic)
    Shriners Hospital-Mexico City (orthopaedic)
Shriners Hospital-Northern California (orthopaedic, burn and spinal cord
    injury)
Shriners Hospital-Philadelphia (orthopaedic and spinal cord injury)
    Shriners Hospital-Portland (orthopaedic)
    Shriners Hospital-Shreveport (orthopaedic)
    Shriners Hospital-Spokane (orthopaedic)
    Shriners Hospital-Springfield (orthopaedic)
    Shriners Hospital-St. Louis (orthopaedic)
    Shriners Hospital-Tampa (orthopaedic)
    Shriners Hospital-Twin Cities (orthopaedic)

Any other questions? Hope you can come help. It's been said it's the best
    toy run in north Texas.

That wasn't my point. Teddy bears are nice, but that's not the only
thing at these events. The largest "take" at these events are cash
donations. I understand that pins and advertising costs money. My
question was (and still is) how much of those proceeds go directly to
    the Shriner's Hospitals?
I know who and what Shriner's Hospitals is. I know that it's medical
needs given to children free of charge and supported solely from it's
    Masonic members and private donations.
I always thought the D/FW - North Texas Toy Run in December was really
cool. That's where riders from Dallas and Ft Worth converge on
Arlington. What I didn't like about that one though was once the ride
got into Arlington, you stood in a LONG line (like Disneyland) to drop
a toy into a box. Then you go home. They need a toy run (and this one
might be a good candidate ending up on the banks of Ray Hubbard) where
at the end of the run, there's a BBQ and a band where there's alot of
fellowship and mingling. Maybe even hold an auction. Now THAT would be
a toy run of all toy runs.

Well, if you don't make it this year, I'll be sure to let you know what all
goes on so that you can make it next year if you want.
