    Hi all

I am a (relatively) new resident of the DFW area. I like riding my
motorcycle to tour around the DFW area, visit the countryside etc.
I am looking for other people in the DFW that use their motorcycle to
do the same... touring, seeing new places etc. If you are interested
in riding on week-ends etc. contact me!

    Hey Steve -

I'd be up for it, but I am about to be gone for about 3 weeks.
I guess that is not too bad as the weather isn't going to be the
    greatest during Jan. anyway.

I'm sure there are others here that would enjoy a ride.
Perhaps when I get back we can hook up and ride.

    Hey Steve;

You may want to join a riding club, such as the Dallas Chapter of the
    SCRC: http://scrcdallas.org/

DFW is a big place. Thousands of people are riding around the Metroplex
    every day, all year.
Perhaps you could narrow it down to near where you live? What kind of bike
    do you ride?

There's not much "touring" in and close to D/FW...unless you count
riding to Strokers, then to...well, they closed down a couple other
good places. Strokers is about it. :)

Seriously, the best touring going from D/FW and only for a couple
hours is east. You have rides to Tawakoni, Lavon (which is kinda rough
if you don't know) and some around Kaufman. My favorite "couple hour
tour" is from Mesquite to Tawakoni by way of Terrell and then back
through Greenville and Rockwall. If I'm up for it, I'll sometimes keep
heading north and come back all the way through Lenard(sp?)...all
through I *have* got lost for a couple hours once in Lenard(sp?). It's
a small community of about 6 or 8 people and one intersection...and I
just happened to get lost there for a couple hours. It was like a Rod
    Serling story or something.

Anyway, if you'd like to go riding sometime, and you don't mind
getting lost in the strangest of places, give me a shout.

I'm on the west side of Ft. Worth and I'm interested. what kinds of
sights do you like to see and what kind of riding do you like to do?

I ride a Yamaha Virago 1100 and my wife rides a VStar 650 Custom.
Neither of us are agressive riders. When we're together we generally
run 50 - 60 mph and make much more frequent stops than I did in my
youth. We're not real big on the huge rallies and don't like to spend
any more time than we have to on the Interstates. We also don't
generally ride when the temperature is below 40 (F).

If you've got a ride in mind (or a day/time), let me know.

    Hi Oma,

it looks like we are pretty much on the same wavelength...

    I ride a Ducati Monster 750 (i.e. a so-called "traditional"
motorcycle. I do not care what kind of motorcycle other people ride
with ).... I do not like speeding and feel very much comfortable when
riding at 50 mph... if you go faster you can't enjoy the
surroundings... again... I just like riding my motorcycle to visit
places and go along roads....basically: touring.

I do not like interstates either or, better, I find they are scary
    places to ride a bike.

My wife does not ride a motorcycle but she can join us with her car.
    :)

I live northwest of Dallas ... just send me an email if you plan to
have a ride together and if I can (day/time) I would be glad to ride
    with you.

    Hi Steve,

If you ever wish to ride up North around Gainesville/Lake Kiowa, I
would be happy to ride with you. It's mostly country roads here,
which I prefer. I also tend to avoid interstates and higher speeds.
My ride is a Harley Ultra Classic and is at home touring. Drop me a
line, and I'm usually ready to go, as I'm now retired.

You might also want to look in to the DFW Freedom Riders out of Lamb's
Honda in Grapevine. A great group of folks & do a lot of rides.

    =====================

You do not need to own a motorcycle to join the Southern Cruisers
Riding Club. Membership is free, open to all bikes and all riders.
Certainly, the majority of riders have cruiser style bikes, but not
    all.

If you would to prefer to ride with others who have the same
make/style as the Duc., make a trip to a local Ducate dealership and
    ask about riding clubs.

Sure! May I'll be touring from DFW to Big Bend. June will be to ID and
    points in between.

Or do you mean day trips/breakfast runs under 500 miles?
