I dropped mine getting it out of the garage on Monday. In fact drop is
too strong a word. It got away from me, to the right. I couldn't hold
it but it was never under a full g of acceleration.

RH footpeg hanger immediately broke. £60 for a new one plus £20 labour.

You *paid* someone to replace a footpeg hanger?

Mine's been over twice now since I bought it, once each side - never
broken a footrest hanger, just scratched the bottom of the peg. What you
need to do is grind the pegs through a few corners, that way there's
less to touch down and break.

£20 labour? FFS, it's less than a 15 minute job with an allen key and
an adjustable spanner. "You was robbed"

Partly, but since I didn't have 15 minutes available between the
breakage and the next time I really needed to get to work, plus they
waived the £40 delivery charge, I really don't give a monkeys.

It certainly gave me >30 mins of time to do something else, so I am in
    profit.

Yes. It's terribly simple. They had the bike to make sure nothing else
was broken. They were around to get next day delivery of the part, they
also had the time to actually fit the part between Monday am and
    Wednesday pm.

Not that can see into bits of brake linkages, no. Yes I probably could
have seen that nothing else was bust, but it still wouldn't have solved
    the time issue.

No. The bike. Home. I didn't have time to get on a bus into town to go
    and get it.

Small depth of field is sometimes a good thing...

I've just got my first photographic (paid) assignment... I'm rather
chuffed as it's on the HMS Belfast.

It would, right up to the moment that they hand him the wire brush and
paint scraper and tell him to start at the stern. "And take some
pictures when you've got down to steel, there's a good chap".

  18. <snort> If you come across a small signalling gun, it was designed by my
FiL. I'm sure I've said this before, but he caused some consternation by
trying to take the thing apart when we visited the ship. Until, that is, he
explained that it was "his" gun, at which point the guide got very
    interested indeed.

This wouldn't be one of those photo shoots with nekkid gurls against a
    pseudo military background, would it?

Heh. The guides on the Blefast always seem to be quite amusing and
    seem to know their stuff.
Sadly not. It's a Dinner/Dance being held on board. I have to get a
pic of each of the guests and their partners as they arrive. If it's a
warm evening and not raining then it'll be on the deck with T bridge
etc in the background, otherwise inside with something brass and
    'shippy' in the background.
