One of the reasons I was glad to buy my second. Though you don't get
the little stand with it anymore.

Creative. Zen Xtra 60Gb. Same price as a 40gb Ipod.

yes and after doing that twice in 15 months I bought a Sony HDW5. More
robust, can change the battery/disk yourself. Software sucks though.

Hmm, dunno. Worth checking to see if it has an AUX input lead
available for it. My Kenwood head is probably 3 years old now and an
AUX lead for it was about 20 quid.

Look for the iTrip on ebay.

Great bit of kit, but the sound quality is dependant on the aerial in
the car (and it's position) - in my 155 it was great - in the Passat
it's acceptable - in the 156 almost useless.

The best solution is from Dension - their bit of kit fools the head unit
into thinking it's got a changer fitted, so the iPod can be controlled
from the head unit / steering wheel controls.

    Bear scribbled:
Wouldn't have thought so. But there are a few different manufacturers
    making them.

I've got a little doobry that plugs into the fag lighter, holds the
Ipod in its foam covered grips, charges it and transmits an FM signal
on one of 3 user selectable frequencies.
    Good enough for me.

The problem with it is if there is a radio station on the frequency
you've selected. You obviously get interference then and it sounds
shit. Some of these FM transmitters only have very few frequencies to
choose from (like mine), others have shed loads and are a lot better.
Dunno, but I know the upper few of the current range of Alpines head
units have an optional Ipod adapter. Lets you control
play/pause/ffw/rrd/track skip/volume, displays the info on the MP3
playing in the Alpines display, etc.

And nearly all of them can have an Aux input option plugged into them.

Either of those options would give quality limited by the quality of
the MP3 (or AAC or whatever) files on the player.
