Well, Toseland seems to be kicking Ducati's arse quite comfortably right
now. Looks like a good candidate to me.

*and* he can ride on the front and fight for the win. i like toseland
for motogp. will his technique work well on the pumped-up 250s
    they're riding these days?

Won't Lorenzo get the Honda seat when they kick Hayden out?

    I like Toseland too but....

If Toseland went to MotoGP would he almost certainly be on a Honda? If
so what would that mean for the team lineups? I guess I could see him
taking over a position at LCR of Konica first. Can't really see
Gresini wanting to make a lineup change. Melandri has always been a
contender, and Elias is showing as much promise as anyone else right
now. Repsol isn't gonna let go of Pedrosa, but I could possibly see
them ditch Hayden. I don't think they have much stock in him anymore.
    What are your thoughts?

I think that's some kind of weird Limey wet dream. First, Shinya's the only
Nip in a series that, if you haven't noticed, is dominated by Jap OEM's, so
I kinda would think that would be a non-starter. Secondly, you think Honda,
or for that matter, Repsol is gonna dump the current world champ to take a
chance on a Brit actually doing something in GP? Again, not likely. Do I
think he'll get a ride? Probably, though I'd be very surprised if he is high
up the food chain if, or when it does happen. That said, if I were Elias, or
Checa I might be worried about where I'm gonna be next year, maybe
especially Elias if he keeps keeps crashin' guys out...

why does toseland get such little respek?

dude's been WSBK world champ. he knows how to ride at the front,
fight for the lead, and really lead. and he's looking like he's got a
real shot to win WSBK again.

toseland seems to have more skillz and promise than 2/3 of the current
    motogp field for chrissakes!

but still no love for the yorkshireman.

    I don't get it either.
You look at him ride and can tell he world class, he could ride the wheels
off of anything. He would be a MotoGP front runner, IMO.
He's one of the most in shape riders I've seen. I don't know if anyone is
more fit than him, in any type of racing.

Now I appreciate Colin Edwards being able to have a beer in between SBK
races, but I bet Toseland never gets off the stationary excercise bike.

It's called being competitive. I agree though that he has a tendency to
flash...not consistent. But I like his agression.
The fact that he signed a contract is moot...contracts are broken, bought
out, released all the time. Plain fact is yes he has the #1 plate...but he's
a Criville...a Chandler...he's a consistent (at least he was last year) top
5 finisher...thats what got him the #1. That doesn't sell bikes. Honda
screwed up when they gave Hayden the ride...it shoulda went to Colin.
Instead CE ended up killing 2 seasons on the cube. Oh well. F Hayden.
Don't know about that, don't think Toseland would be dumb enough to take a
second/third string ride in GP. I think he'll just stay in SB.

Honda wont dump Hayden midseason...but I wouldnt expect him to be back on
the factory team in 08...contract or no contract. Cant have somebody on a
factory ride after 4 years sucking that much. Makes them look bad.

Tose gets so little respect because he won the championship on a bike that
just plain outclassed the rest of the field...choked mid season and almost
lost his championship bid to a surrender monkey. Give him credit for
fighting back though at season end.

Then he lost his ride and had a crap defense of his championship. Thats why
he doesnt get respect. But as he rode last year and this year, he's
definitely got my respect. I love the way he rides like he has something to
    prove to that **** tardozzi.

    Mark...SPOT ON!

Another paper champ who accumulates points...not wins. I find Stoner an
exciting prospect as a champ...he has that win or crash attitude (can see it
from his old 125/250 days and last season on the mgp bike). So even if his
bike has 15mph up top on the rest of the field...I still like the kid. It
looks like he'll try every time out...even though now he seems to have
learned at race end to settle for points a bit. (But he got a hot wife!)

The picture I have of Stoner in my mind is his highside in South Africa a
couple years back in 250. I think he was 17/18 at the time...that rack was
so notoriously bumpy and rough...he lost it in some of the rough
stuff...bike spit him off at hi-speed. He just sucked it up and raced the
    next round. Kick ass.

true, but i see a new grit/attitude in toseland that wasnt there w/
his WSBK championship. the way he rides is different. tougher.
