    How about one of these:

    http://search.ebay.co.uk/search/sea...t=1&from=R10&sorecordsperpage=50&BasicSearch=

AndrewR got one last week. We haven't tried it yet, but it looks the
business; more like a surgical kit than anything else: little phials of
    stuff, swabs, sprays, gloves.

We'll probably know what it's like sometime this week.

    1. Climbing aboard, make sure the offside cubby hold lid is shut,
    otherwise you'll kick it off.

    2. Don't just click it back into place, especially if one of the
hinges is snapped, or it will fall off on the way back from
    Sainsbury's.

    3. and some woman in a silver Escort will appear to swerve
deliberately so that her nearside wheel runs right over the top of it.

The hinge lug is part of the moulding of what appears to be the back
    of the whole topbox.

    This Araldite had better work.

  3. Oh dear. Araldite is not good for plastics, assuming that it is plastic.

    Suggestions? [1]

At the moment, I need to:

    A: reaffix the hinge lug.
B: stick the sides of the lid back down. They fit quite neatly.

    [1] fun with soldering irons?

Oh, yeah. Apparently it's "the one that Halfords used to do, which used
to be really good, but they don't it stock any more 'cos they didn't
    sell many."

They're gonna sell even less if they don't have it in stock, mind.

Wait until the glue sets and make a judgement. Plastic can be a bastard
to glue as it depends on the plastic and how well the Araldite can get a
    bite on it.

    Noooo

If you have problems take it to a local industrial model maker.

You did check the use-by date as well didn't you and thus make sure you
    use fresh stuff?

If it doesn't work, get along to your local model aeroplane shoppe (or
if you can't find one/get to one, give me a shout) - they do a lot of
specialised adhesives and epoxies these days. Quite cheaply too.

    Ordered. Cheers, Eddie.

I've got sidepanel lugs to re-attach, too.

Gotta be worth a go, at £15, innit.

Blimey! Looks a bit heavy duty for a tiddly hinge.

I'll give the gloop a go, and we can discuss it at the BOSM.

  13. Depends on the plastic - the claims for these glues are always a bit on the
extravagant side. It is particularly lousy at sticking Persex and the like.

  14. Loctite Prism 406 - a variant on the Superglue theme, specially for
plastics, including 'difficult' ones. It will in fact stick Teflon to
Teflon. Available from RS, Farnell and the like, but certainly not from the
likes of B&Q. My MRA Varioscreen is stuck together with it, after an
unfortunate incident with an aluminium stepladder. :-(

Oh, like all kinds of Superglue, it is very good at sticking fingers
    together. How do I know?

I've tended to 'stitch' things together with wire as well as aralditing
them. that's generally held but only works if the repair isn't visible
    I suppose.

I for one would be most interested in your results, as I'm considering

In fact, I'd be doing more than considering it if they hadn't fucked
    my order up last time.
