  1. You're trying to bring me to my other pet subject aren't you?

I honestly can't imagine for a moment why anyone (given the choice)
would live in a town or city - near other people who will make a noise,
drop litter and act like complete arseholes.

  3. Doesn't count it was Ginge and he's away with the fairies at the best
    of times.

Utter nonsense. I've never been anywhere with even a single fairy.

I don't really have a choice... for now.

  6. I know the feeling. I'm waiting for the housing market to crash
through the floor. It's got to if I keep talking it down...

Your lack of comment on occasion says a lot as well.

I do very few private miles in the Golf anyway, even though I can use it
whenever I like. It does probably less than 100 a month for non-work
purposes. It's not a bad car, it starts, goes, steers, stops and carries
the crap I need on a daliy basis. What more do I need apart from
possibly a larger boot for more samples.
The last car I owned and used was the 1987 Escort that I bought in
Worksop, and gave to Snowy when I got a company Picasso. That was over 2
1/2 years ago, I've used a bike almost exclusively for my own prvate use
since then. Last winter I was given a Vauxhall Belmont, but I couldn't
be arsed to use it, so I ended up giving it to the scrap man without me
ever having driven it. I really do not get excited about driving any car
    anymore.

Anyway, if we're to continue this discussion further, maybe we should
take this to a car ng. This is, after all, a bike newsgroup :)

It's old, been left standing for way too long, and has obviously been
fashioned from several variants of the same model, and by way of that, I
don't mean in the factory by skilled technicians, before the day it was
    born, so...

    ....your point is? ;-)

It's an NG, that has in the five or so years it must be, covered almost
every subject, several times and in triplicate and beyond.

'Cats', for example... that was one that used to be an almost daily
occurence in here, and a subject matter that has less in common with bikes
than an alternative method of traversing this fine land by way of burning
    refined fossil fuels.

It's one of the things that makes this place so interesting to read, the
general diversity of the threads - maybe any car related posts should be
prefixed something like 'CP' (short for 'Car Post', not 'Crap').

Anyway... this particular thread sprouted due to a program that pitted a
bike against a car, so :p

And... if this place ended up moderated and restricted to just posts
regarding bikes... well whilst 'quality over quantity' can be a good thing,
just because it would be on-topic 100%, it doesn't mean the level of quality
    would improve, does it.

As it is, this place isn't what it was - why is it no-one bothers to
organise stuff like FOTs any more, for instance?

Don't say cos it's cold - I remember it being icy the first time I turned up
    for the FOT.
He's old, smells of wee and appears to have the beginnings of a second penis
    protruding from his stomach.

So do I... but I won't be in a position to buy for at least another two,
maybe three years - the business has to come first for the foreseeable.
