The Jag apparently has an 85 litre tank so that's cost them roughly
£100 quid to fill and do the trip

The Polo has a 45 litre tank so about 54 quid.

"Polo costs half as much to run as Jag" shocker.

Of course, it's not the size of the tank, it's the miles per gallon. I
can't remember the figures but I do remember thinking it was a fucking
respectable showing for a big Jag, and the people who always wanted an XJ
won't really be interested in a Blue Motion anyway.

I drove along the A3 from Malden to Wandsworth yesterday. I can report
that the merging of traffic from three lanes to one after the Tibbets
    Corner roundabout was perfect.

That was what annoyed me about the article. It was presenting the Jag
as doing something amazing, but what it came down to was that the Jag
cost twice as much as the Polo to go the same distance.

And Hammond had to drive like a paranoid granny to get the mileage to do
so. Of course the Jag was going to use more fuel than the Polo - the
point was that, with the exception of the last 150 miles or so, the Jag
did the distance required with all the creature comforts turned on and
    at a reasonable cruising speed.

But that's to do with the prevention of 'drive-offs'.

I once went to fill up (at a Sainsburys IIRC) and the cashier wouldn't
switch on the pump until I'd put the nozzle into the tank. That was
    for H&S reasons, natch.

I wonder if them stopping one from filling up multiple vessels is
purely to do with the potential value.
    Two: car, motorcycle.

I understood that for facing the wrong way, yes (except onna bike,
because they can't read your plate). I asked about the door thing. It's
apparently because people hide behind the doors and fill illegal containers.

If you want to see shirty try watching Alex hide when his 'friends'
are attempting to smuggle fuel onto a ferry.

When Danny and I do a trackday together we usually fill up three 20
litre jerry cans. I have been known to sell some of the the contents of
the third can at a nice profit when the petrol station on-circuit has
    closed.

Someone had to play the grown up, just
seemed to be my turn at that particular point.

    Shirty? Hide? No.
Try resigned... it was you and Champ after all.

Whilst your relative comparison stands, in CH they would've paid £1 a litre
    for diesel.

Ho yuss. I really want one that goes on the back of a little tractor. At
4 grand it's going to have to wait a while though.

Can you get a mini tractor that can also take a bulldozer attachment or
a digger thingy I wonder. Such a device would be so useful, but given
the bogginess of much of our land a track laying vehicle would be best.
far too expensive unfortunately. We do use the pikey Castorama special
ride on mower to haul cut branches though.

Super little things. We hired them when we lived on a smallholding on the
steep side of the Wye Valley.
