....I will be mostly David Dickinson.

It's curry night at Wetherspoons, 'cheap as chips'(1).

Something like £3.95 for a plate full of something that does a pretty good
impression of a full on curry house special, and that price includes a drink
    of some description.

    Hatter?

    (1) Well, cheap as cod and chips, and you don't get a pint thrown in with
    that.

Bollocks to that - give us the details anyway. A decent curry and a
pint for four quid? Is this in all Wetherspoons pubs, or just selected
ones? I feel a trip to my nearest WS if it's a general thing.

What d'you get for your four quid? Single dish? Choice of what?

Details, man, details! Do you think nobody on ukrm likes curry?

    It's a general thing, I believe.

The price varies from branch to branch, but the worst I've ever seen them
    ask for, is £5.95.

Down this way, they all tend to be about £3.95.
You get a choice of, from memory:

Chicken Tikka Masala, available as both mild and hot.
    Chicken Balti
    Chicken Jalfrezi
Chicken Vindaloo - I tried this last week... not *that* hot initially, but
it kicked in quite hard in the aftermath.
    Lamb Balti...

....and some seafood muck, which I can't remember - and some others I can't
    remember, either.

They used to do a Beef Madras that really did make your eyes water, but I
suspect they've played it safe on that one, since BSE... which is a shame -
I used to do one of those, and end up hammered by the time I finished eating
it, I'd downed so much beer in an attempt to soften the blow, as it were.

Anyway, you get a lump of rice, small nan bread, couple of poppadoms and a
tub of mango chutney served with the main dish.

They tend to do extra poppadoms, onion bhajis and samosas as side orders.

Drink wise, it tends to be a choice between piss like Fosters and John
Smiths, or a glass of house red or white, glass of Coke etc.
    Heh, see above. :)

it's a general thing, though the price varies by location.

Be aware it's not "proper" curry - very much frozen-and-nuked.

Well, I wouldn't expect anything else from a Wethespoons pub. I've
slightly gone off the idea now I've discovered that the drink isn't a
    decent pint, mind you.

Simple... wash it down with Theakstons (the best of a bad bunch), then hit
the half decent ales for pudding.

It's what I intend to do later on, anyway :)

Is this the kind of thrill-fest that they're still having over in
    UKRM-lite, then?

    Hardly thrilling, is it.

No, I just fancied getting rat-arsed later, and felt this was as good a way
as any, to line my stomach in preparation.

Advanced planning; that's what I like to see. Remember that it all
comes out the way in went in.

I've just been down the gym, to get my 2nd pummelling from the 1:1
personal trainer. Apparently, and this doesn't come as a total
surprise, I'm actually fairly fit everywhere except my stomach muscles,
    which are rubbish.

TOG@toil, , emerged from their own little
    world to say

Exactly. I only got to the curry night if there are others in the group who
insist on eating burger & chips for every meal. If everyone wants curry
then we go to one of the many local places which start at a fiver for a 3
    course meal.
My local Wetherspoons often doesn't stock Theakstons bitter as it is not
popular locally. They are usually happy for me to choose one of their
cheaper ales such as the local Hancocks HB.
