Today my TTR suddenly switched from the map screen to the 'insert SD
card' animation screen, but with the SD card icon with a red cross over
it. I pulled over and switched it off and on and it was fine, for about
5 minutes, then it did it again. The card is definitely inserted
    properly.
Now I'm home and it's off the bike, it's fine. I've even knocked it
about a bit (!) thinking it may be a loose contact on the SD card but
    it's perfectly ok now. :-/
So what does the big red cross over the SD card icon mean then? [1]

[1] I've erm, mislaid the manuals

But if the card is not there/inserted, the on-screen animation just
shows you to insert the SD card, with no red cross over it.

I think it measns, it recognises the card, but doesn't detect the proper
    software it expects.

  5. Yes, If I put an empty card in my TT it shows the animation then it
goes to the card logo with a big red X over it.

So it's not seeing the program on the card

  6. I had this with some pikey SD cards, I bought (ahem) a couple of SanDisk
    cards and it went away.

So the card or the contacts must be at fault then..

I'm thinking that, yes. Surely it should be fit for the use of though.
This is my second one, the first one had problems with the bluetooth
headset and got replaced. Now this one, as well as aforementioned
problem, doesn't charge on its holder properly when on the bike...
It's not even a year old and cost me 399 quid.
Wonder if there's a case to get my money back? I fancy a Garmin Zumo...

John banged the rocks together and they said :
    Dirty contacts.

Take card out, wipe contacts with lint free cloth, put back, have a
    beer.
