Tomorrow I may lose my job

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by The Older Gentleman, Sep 13, 2007.

  1. Because it is quite likely that I will call my boss a fuckwit and,
rather vehemently, point out that the cock-up that has afflicted our
latest issue is of his, and nobody but his, making.

    Enough is enough.

That's taking the piss more than a bit.

I had 3 days off when I lost my dad last year.

Eh? - If you look at most company policies, you'll find that you get
around a max. of 4 days compassionate leave following the death of a
    family member.

Any more than this would have to be taken as agreed holiday (paid or
    unpaid).

To take 3 weeks off looks like you're milking it for all it's worth.

Stuff like this happens. Deal with it, move on, but don't take the piss
out of your employers because of it.

I'm sure someone of your literary abilities can come up with a way of
phrasing it so you get the message across with absolute clarity, but without
swearing at the **** and obliging either him to sack you or you to stomp
    out.

Sucking his keyboard for inspiration, Nige typed:
No-one ever lay on his deathbed wishing he'd spent more time at the office.
I always reckon family comes first. As long as you've been straight with
your employer, and don't expect to be paid for doing nowt, I can't see the
    problem.

Why did your boss take three weeks off when your father died?

What's Kiran got to do with this? Unless...

****! Champ, he's going to try to sue you for pointing out that he's a
    thick foul mouthed northerner.

Fortunately, you've got the "But it's true" defence.

  10. I must be a fucking liying (sic) **** then, because when that utter
bastard who only by accident of place and time happened to be my father,
    died, I didn't give a shit.

That's what I said to my boss on Friday when I handed in my notice.

Must be something in the water this month ;-)

I didn't take any time off when I lost my dad, coz I had a good idea where
he was and a simple phone call confirmed my suspicions.

I think you'll find that more than a few would disagree with that Nige. I'll

Same with mine - my parents live 8 miles away and I haven't seen them in
months. Tonight I passed their front door twice and didn't stop.

BTDTGTTS, do it. Don't simmer as that does you no good. Burst their little
happy balloon with an accurately applied ego-needle. Expose them as a
    fuckwit.

Sometimes a raving good argument clears the air and allows all parties
concerned to work together. If it doesn't, well, at least you've vented.

    Alternatively, slot the fucker.
