About 6 weeks ago the missus decided she was sit of sitting round the house
all day and got herself a part time job, three days a week.

As I mentioned on here that meant that I had need for a SOC to do a bit of
ferrying the little one round, etc. I'd had a bit of a look round, but
    nothing had come up.

Last week at work a bloke I know asked, out of the blue, if I knew anybody
who wanted a car. He is from Hastings, but has been working up North for
over a year now. He's now got a promotion and a move back down South.

The thing is that he'd bought himself a car to run around in up here, so
that he didn't have to keep driving his car up and down the country. Now he
wants to sell his up North car by the end of the week.

So I went to have a look. It's nothing special, a K-reg Orion with 100k on
the clock, a tiny bit of rust on one of the rear doors and a scrape on the
    N/S front wheel arch.

OTOH it has a full service history, tax, MOT, 'leccy windows, sunroof and a
    10 CD autochanger.

The bloke selling it needs it to get him to work on Friday morning, but at
the end of the day on Friday he wants to just get a taxi to the airport and
fly back South. So, he's in a bit of a pickle; can't sell the car before
Friday, but can't sell it afterwards.

I nearly felt sorry for him, but I hardened myself, "Two hundred notes?".
He looked like he was thinking about it, so I threw in, "Cash in hand on
    Friday."

    "Fair enough" he says. Sorted.

    I think I've done alright there - I mean, even if it's a complete dog I must
be able to get 100 quid on e-bay for a 10 disc changer and head-unit.

Anyway, I'm a car owner again, for the first time in 6 years.

Probably, but I can't remember the last time I rode it.

    What are you getting at?

Well I was just thinking that you haven't done that many miles on 2
wheels[1] recently, so maybe you should just remember that he who is without
sin has to live in a glass house.

[1] OK, OK, powered transport. Being daft enough to cycle across the
    country doesn't count for anything.

Just because *my* bike has been receiving some prolonged attention,
doesn't mean that I am without PTW transport, remember?
Yes, well. Imminent 4WD purchase expected. He who lives in a grass house
    shouldn't stow thrones.

Well, if I ever manage to get down to visit you in Essex it should help me
    blend in.

Once I've got my dustbin sized 'zaust, front fogs and blue neon lights
fitted, of course. Do you happen to know if I have to buy those things
individually or is there a kit that has them all in?

Oh, and I'll need one of those things that goes BOOM BOOM BOOM! Any idea
    what they're called?

Possibly. Possibly. Although I actually think it is some sort of
attachment to the automobile's stereophonics system.

Just call into Halfords and ask for a
    WikkidHeadUnitwifABPnactivxoverampstwotweetersfoadbassbinnsanawoofermate.

This has to be said while waving ones arms about in a manner reminiscent of
an arthritic epileptic or the salesman will point and laugh at you.
