I have a drawerful of approximately 50 [predominantly] white handkerchiefs, some of them inherited from my late father. Most of the Egyptian cotton ones have admittedly been laundered, but others - notably 17 of the fine linen ones- remain unused. There are also a number of silk ones, but these are mostly coloured. From my late father-in-law I have about 20 more jolly spotted oversize hankies, also well laundered, which he used, flamboyantly but decorously, in pursuit of his snuff-taking habit. As an acclaimed expert on the subject, please could you give me an outline valuation, before I bung them on Ebay. "... good aerodynamic 'float' for the best possible display effect." Good grief. What's the score in the fraternal letters contest now?
