We're traveling via Ca en and returning on the Monday morning rather
than taking the long trek up to Calais on the Sunday so if anyone else
is doing the same and fancies doing beers in the evening we'll be
stopping in the Hotel Des Quatrans which appears to be fairly well in
    the middle of Caen.

Not the cheapest and not the dearest but we fancied stopping somewhere
pretty central so we'd have a decent choice of bars and restaurants.

It would probably be advantageous if you used the right words:
    'voulez-vous coucher avec moi?'.

    Oh, wait .. I've been whooshed, haven't I?

My conversational French actually extends to ...

    "Mercy"
    "Bonjowa"
    "Un van rooge, sivou ple"

The only trick is getting them in the right order for the first few
bottles - after that pointing and grunting works just as well as it does in
    Bargain Booze.

  11. Ca en is noted for its pepper, and Ca va for its sparkling wine.

  15. L'otel booked and L'Ferry booked from Caen -> Portsmouth..... that
should be a bit easier than a long hoon on the Sunday to the channel
followed by another long hoon on the other side.

Are you going over on the Thursday night ferry as well?

It's still a fair trek over to the hotel but not as far as it is from
Calais and we reckoned we'd have plenty of time to do a spot of sight
seeing in the Caen area on both the Friday and the Sunday plus have
time for an off piste blast along some country roads.

I'll probably be taking the Tenere and it won't be completely run in
so blast might be the wrong way to describe it..

I bought my Sprint ST on 27th April 2007, it had its 500 mile service
the day before the TOG Tour and was as run in as I needed by the time I
    got to the hotel.

heh. It's not quite that bad[1], but it hasn't turned a wheel this
    year yet, granted.[2]

[] I think it's up to just under 6000 miles, but it's been a while
    since I looked.
[2] But then I am using the new car currently. I'll probably get out
at the weekend, as I need a trip to HG in Slough.
