On the way in to work this morning it was chucking it down and blowing
a gale. There were 4-Tracks driving very carefully round huge puddles
in the road. (Why do they do that?)

What a great ride in I enjoyed every fucking minute.

My favourite bit - riding through puddles and seeing how far the water
goes up the side of cars coming the other way.

A few years ago I was riding through a rather deep puddle, well actually it
was more like a mini flood. About half way through this lorry driver decided
to have some fun and he came blasting through with a huge grin on his face.
It was like a tidal wave and completely covered me.

Beats me. I drive my 4WD through as many puddles as I can, to wash the
mud off the inside of the wheel arches. Works a treat until you find one
that's a bit deeper than you expected...

  10. I was walking into work last Sun (IIRC) and the drains had clogged
up on Cleveland Road so there was a huge puddle stretching out across
about 1/4 of the street. Mr White Van Man came speeding past and swerved
in to the kerb to drench me, when he could have avoided the puddle
altogether as there was no-one coming the other way. Sorry, pal, that's
an offence; fortunately for him I was too busy giving him both fingers
to write down his registration mark.

    Doesn't really narrow it down.

The reason I asked is because if you meant a Fourtrak then the reason
that it's not a good idea to drive them *fast* through big puddles is
because the water flies up in a blinding great sheet over the front of
the bonnet, which can be exciting especially as the steering will be
    pulling all over the place.

I drove my pathetic Fiat Scudo through a medium sized puddle on Monday
evening and ripped off lumps from under the engine. Unfortunately one
of those lumps was a rather important oil cooler.

Luckily I decided that the ensuing noise was a bit much to carry on
driving and once I'd pulled over and had a quick look to see what was
hanging off I decided the AA needed to get involved.

You wanna get a Mongvan you do, good old Toyota engineering. I met a

been as right as rain since.
