    1) When servicing your motorcycle, in preparation for a nice sunny weekend
of riding, choose a nice, stable position in which to park it. For example,
if your driveway is on a slope, always park the motorcycle facing *up* the
    slope.

    2) Failure to observe 1) may result in your motorcycle rolling forward,
causing the sidestand to retract. Should this occur, simply stand clear, and
allow the motorcycle to fall over. *Do not* attempt to prevent this from
happening by grabbing hold of the fairing - particularly the parts beneath
the pillion seat, which may not be as smooth as other sections of the
    fairing.

    3) 160kg of motorcycle can push sharp fairing edges a surprisingly long way
    into flesh.

    4) One is unlikely to be able to enjoy a nice sunny weekend of motorcycle
riding, if one has only one working hand.

    That is all.

Every bike I own has been of the stand in some comedy fashion. You'll
    get used to it.

  9. Monkey has brought this to us :
Hope the hand heals quickly :)

My shoulders not too bad now. Last week repairing the summer-house roof
I had to stand on a bit of a lean to covered over by an asbestos
panelled roof. I had laid blank across this roof and even warned the
lad to only stand on the planks. Of course I unthinkingly stepped of
the planks and the asbestos supported me just long enough to allow me
to step into the middle of the span, then collapsed. 8 feet I fell
straight through the roof, to the ground with a perfect landing on my
feet. I just suffered slight grazing from my contact with the roof
support timbers and found my shoulder had been wrenched a bit in trying
    to slow my fall.

Have you considered buying a Harley?

As the sidestand locks in position, you can park them up or down...

But you need a reinforced driveway then. Actually, my old CB500 once managed
to fall off the *centre*stand once - it was hot weather, the tarmac melted,
and the stand sunk in. First I knew about it was the bike toppling against
the wall of the house. Took a dirty great chunk out of the driveway, that
    did.

Perhaps it's the other way round as mine has and it's 5 years older than
    yours.
