I will mostly be procuring a tank bag and tent in readiness for BOSM-ing.

Anyone riding up on the Saturday morning via the Oxford area need a slow
    companion?

  2. <bitch mode>
Well it's a variant on the "I've been in my garage all weekend fixing
    the Kwak racing bike" theme.

Which in turn is a rather more interesting variant than the "I've got
three bikes in my garage and haven't ridden any of them for months"
    theme.

Or, "I've been working like a dog all week and feel fucking dead come
the weekend" (to avoid mis-understanding which appears to be dogging me
today[1] this is me, not you).

  5. Thanks Pip - really.

That's helped me take a decision.

It certainly is, I don't know how to keep up with myself most days.

I hope it's the decision to ride them, rather then the decision to sell
    them.

Bloody right, Dan. If I was partly responsible for Paul doing the
other thing, I'd feel more than a little guilty - especially as I
consider that Paul's well-observed and balanced advice on town riding
has enabled me to survive as long as I have.

Bad form 'n all that, but...
Got a rather nice buffalo sport tank bag, which doubles as a flat map holder
and a small rucksack, and a 2 man tent a' la Millets. Had great fun
assembling it in the lounge, so please, no crowd of amused onlookers on
Saturday, if you don't mind. Also got a self inflating bedroll, a cargo net
and some mini webbing straps (top tip there Pip).

Anyway, managed to load the whole shebang onto the CB without it looking (or
feeling) like the leaning tower of Pisa, so I are mostly a happy bunny.

Notices the CB has grown a nice coat of fur on it's ally bits, so Friday
will be fettling day I feel.
    Any takers?

    no, thought so

I might be riding up on Saturday, although I won't be able to stay.

Unfortunately, I won't actually know if I can until Friday, probably.

  12. Well you need to be thankful that I decided to go out to the shops and
not post an immediate reply then. Oh and that I have changed my mind
after several hours of fuming and contemplation as to next steps.

To be perfectly blunt it is no one's business whether I do or do not
ride my bikes during winter, spring, autumn or summer. You presumed that
I haven't ridden my bikes - you have no way of knowing one way or the
other. Oh and to pre-empt the obvious next question the Beemer and VFR
have been ridden but not frequently over the last few months. There are
several people on this group who own more than one bike and who do not
ride all the time - no one criticises them. I fail to see why I am yet
again considered worthy of comment from you in addition to the others
who have chucked these particular "rocks" over the months.

The reply to Champ was meant to be partly humorous but I missed off the
smilie. We all post dull posts on the group and while I recognise that
preparing the race bike is for something "special" (for some on the
group) it is equally the case that Oldbloke popping out to buy a tent
for BOSM is a special event for him as it will be his first BOSM. In
that context the posts are the same - to answer Champ's question.

I have already scaled back my posting on the group because there is
little for me to say. I shall now be even more circumspect if my
comments are to provoke this sort of nonsense.

  13. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember Paul Corfield
    <> saying something like:

    A simple '**** off, you redhaired ****', would have sufficed, you know;
you've got to talk to them in language they understand.

Paul, I for one thought it was slightly barbed humour and appreciated it
    as such.
I hope that you don't disappear. I generally find your posts thought
provoking and feel ukrm would be a poorer place without you.

"Yet again"? I don't recall any previous comments, Paul.

TBH, if you don't feel the need to ride, then IDGAF. You do what you
want, it isn't down to me to try to influence your lifestyle, nor to
criticise your choices. I have benefitted from your wisdom on riding
style, as I have mentioned several times previously - I respect your
experience, attitude and wisdom wrt motorcycling and staying uncrashed
and have appreciated you sharing that.
The post that I made which you took to be a barbed, poisonous and
personal attack on you was meant as nothing of the sort. Had it been
as you chose to see it, I would have happily responded, on obtaining
the biggest flounce in a response since Bear's door slamming episode.
Instead, I've been considering this reply for some time.

I have typed and deleted more than several replies, but essentially
what I want to say is: No offence or upset intended.

When you do have "something to say", you say it. In a considered
manner which is easy and pleasant to read and which is invariably
educational. This group is full of "nonsense". IME, it always has
been and part of the art of reading it is to pick out the pearls from
the ordure. This newsgroup, poor as it is, would be poorer still
    without posts from you.

  18. Not from you but yours added to a theme established by others.
Jolly good - that was what I expected you to say.
Fine - I was not in a very good frame of mind. Not responding
immediately on both our parts has helped.
None taken - as I said above I was not in a good mood. It was just the
straw that broke the camel's back at that point in time.

Thank you for the other kind remarks.
