    Gob smacked.

I was nicked by the 'Heritage Police'. There I was in the middle of
Trafalgar Square this afternoon minding my own business with camera and
tripod taking piccies when I'm accosted by one of Red Ken's finest pillocks
    in a yellow jacket.

'ello da! do u 'ave a license?'

    'license for what?'

    'takin de photos'

    etc etc.

Apparently now you need a license in London to take photos if they are for
'commercial' use - the only reason I wasn't done was I managed to convince
him no one would be stupid enough to pay me for my photographic skills.

I didn't know whether to laugh or cry - fucking nazis the lot of 'em. I
wouldn't mind but they are going into promotional stuff to flog London
    tourism.

    Bollocks to them all.

You need public liability insurance as well. I do hope you have to show
it to get your license. Kin silly if you don't.

Why? The views belong to the people of London, why should they be
exploited for commercial gain by thoughtless tax avoiding scrotes with
no benefit coming to the good folks of London who provide the surfaces
for the light to reflect off in the first place. These so called
photographers are stealing your reflected light and sticking their
fingers up at you while they do it. They should be made to pay.
