I bought a Toby steering damper for my ZX10R which arrived yesterday. Looked like a nice bit of kit but having just fitted it I'm not so sure. The first time I turned the handlebars the bracket that clamps round the damper and fixes it via a ball joint to a bracket on the steering stem, popped off of the ball joint. I guess it was supposed to be an interference fit in the bottom of the bracket but in this instance it wasn't. Thank fuck I wasn't at speed anywhere when it decided to do it. How difficult is it to drill and tap a hole in the side of the bracket to put a grub screw in as a back up and why don't manufacturers think of these things (or is there a reason for not doing this that I'm not aware of) ? This is one item that will be getting returned for a refund pretty sharpish. They are about £100.00 cheaper than things like Sprint or Ohlins (spell check suggests Holiness as an alternative to Ohlins :) ) so I guess you get what you pay for.
