  4. Right.

The sink in the kitchen of our new place needed replacing. The surface
was becoming porous and would stain very easily. The only way to keep it
clean was with bleach which attacked the 'man made stone finish' and
    made it more porous.

B-I-L (ex plumber) found a deal with a stainless steel sink, a basin
and a half plus drainer, a waste disposal unit and all the bits to plumb
it in for 140 quid. I picked up the super dooper 86 quid mixer tap from
    Aldi's for £19.

I remove doors and shelves for access, Sink screws and plumbing undone,
the sink wont budge. But it did with the aid of a car trolley jack
placed in the cupboard underneath, (plus the addition of a bit of wood).
I then sat on the work top and jacked up the sink with my foot.
(Irremovable object and unstoppable force etc).

Then comes cutting out the extra bits of the work top.

Now upon closer inspection I found out the old waste pipe from the sink
went up hill by about 2 inches causing the reduced empty flow rate of
the sink, so I had to replace it complete with a new hole in the wall.
Hole cut using the bit of scaffold pole given teeth with an angle
    grinder and a big hammer.

I plumbed in sink and waste disposal unit and wired it in. The sink now
empties in perfectly but I thought I would check the drain out side.

It was over flowing. It was blocked and I hadn't noticed before because
of the slow movement of water 'up hill' with the old system.

First trick was to feed 2 meters of hose into the drain, the other end
    connected to my compressor.
100ltr of high pressure air had a spectacular effect on the contents of
    the drain.
I then hosed the mess down. Fortunately the drain only serviced the sink
so it wasn't too unpleasant but still blocked.
Next I borrowed some drain rods off of the guy next door and set to
unblocking it from the other end of the pipe where it exited in a deep
man hole. While upside down in the man hole trying to ram in and out the
last length of drain rod, the house cordless phone falls out of my top
pocket towards the gunge flowing passed, *that had sources other than
    just the sink*.

Faster than a speeding bullet relying on my knees to stop me falling
down the hole, I let go of the sides and catch the phone before it hits
    the bottom.

Feeling immensely please with this catch I wriggle out of the hole and
place the phone on the cars bonnet by the wiper blades. Just where I
could hear it if it rang.
Much huffing and puffing later with copious amounts of water to flush
things away I finally clear the system. Finished the job, washed up and
took the car to see my mum for the afternoon.

Did we notice a small slip there?

Next day when I couldn't find the phone it dawned on me. Walking up and
down the road didn't help either.
The phone I lost is the only one that will talk to the base station a
Diverse 3010 and the phones I've got left are Diverse 1010s. Bugger!

Comet came up with a replacement to the old system, which obviously
needed replacing as the old one was er.. past it's best?

For ages I've thought my house needed various things doing. So I
fucked off. And now I'm paying for someone else to have the benefit
    of it. Go figure.

Very, if you like soul music.

You can get an idea of what she sounds like by going to the 'media' page
of her website. Tbh the current single isn't her best work, it's a cover
of something that almost everyone who listens to daytime popular radio
knows, so I suppose it was chosen for that very reason. Her better work
is on unknown and forgotten soul classics.

Plus............she is cute looking, which helps

    I have.
It is, but with a couple of caveats - her voice is very good, but I
find something slightly disquieting about a 16 year old singing of
lost love etc. Also, while the first half of the album has some very
good songs on it, I think the material on the second half is a little
    weak.

Don't get me wrong, tho, it's a great debut, and well worth a listen.

    Dead right.

I offer you http://www.clairemartinjazz.com/index1.html in return.
She's absolutely bloody fantastic. And much, much foxier in real

Mmm. Yes. That's always been one of my objections to
boybands/girlband. Well, that and the crapness, of course.
I think the first half of an album often becomes one's favourite
because it's gets listened to more. Not that I'm disagreeing with
your opinion on this particular record, of course.
Will do. I hope the Royal Mail have got my redirect in place, because
    I'm off to Amazon.

Why not sample something of hers from a download site first, a kind of

She's downright raunchy at 2.30am at Ronnie Scotts, believe me.
Try her version of Help by The Beatles. Also, Partners in Crime
(penned by Rupert Holmes). Gettin' High shows how she can treat an
up-tempo number. And pretty much anything from the last album Too
Darn Hot will be jazz standards, or near as dammit.

You particularly might like The Key To Your Ferrari from her debut
    album.
