    spouted the following in
    That should do it.

Alternator won't lift flat batteries, but a freshly filled one will reach
full charge nicely on the bikes charging system.

I've been riding the GS500 on full throttle everywhere, I jumped in the
Gixxer and realised I can't ride it the same after the front wheel left
    the ground.

  7. You give it the soaking time and commissioning charge before you drag
amps out of it with the starter.
Ho yus. But best if you've kickstarted it (should such an option be
    available), not the electric foot.

Seriously; that first soak and charge makes a helluva difference to the
    longevity of the battery.

Not necessarily. On my GSXR750[1] the alternator wouldn't start
charging the battery until the revs were over 5.5k rpm. It was
perfectly possible to ride around town never going over this and
thence never charging the battery. Especially if you had the lights
    on.

[1] I imagine the Thou is pretty similar. Round town I never get out
of 1st gear and above 4k rpm.

Yeah, that's right - pretty much next door to the station, though
there's a women-only gym place in between. I'm just around the corner
    - other side of the train station.
