I was going to say something like "Usenet's the only thing that keeps
    me sane", but then...

he is, almost literally, a joke.

We were in a pub a while back (it was someone's leaving do, so more
than my usual circle of orkers) and he was there, making these stupid
1970s Jim Davidson style comments about the various women, easily loud
enough so that each recipient of his comments could hear him, and I
said something like "Richard, have you always been such a wanker", and
he "offered me outside", because apparently it wasn't acceptible for
someone to "dis him" in front of "me homeys" (all of whom had the good
    grace to look suitably embarrassed).

Well, I'd had a few, and accepted his offer, only to be told "it is
you dat is da wanker, for accepting" and was then told that "instead,
I is sending you to da Coventry, bitch".

It was at this point, that I came very close to just punching him in
    his speccy fucking face.

But I've got good impulse control.

  4. Ah!

He is a joke. He is Herbert Kornfeld from The Onion.

Unfortunately, the Onion has decided go to "We want a
revenue stream from the web", and all his work seems
to be only available under Onion premium.

Due to one or two people I met while at uni I have this nagging fear
that if I do learn how to use linux it magically removes all your
social grace, wit, charm, confidence, success with women and stunning
    good looks.

Obviously, with so little to lose, I shut my eyes every time I see an
    O'Reilly book, just in case.

Don't forget "doing the workplace a favour" is as important.

A chap I work with in the office is constantly doing impersonations of
the Bo Selecta 'Michael Jackson', he regularly sees the need to loudly
say "Shamon-mo fo" whenever one of the secretaries happens to wander
past his line of sight. As you can imagine after the first few dozen
times it really starts to grate.

I had to go in today for 15 mins to pick something up, as I was in full
on holiday mode it seemed only natural to ask him quite loudly "Excuse
me, is there a reason for you doing a really poor impersonation of a
    suspected paedophile?".

Fair shut him up, it did. T'was proper bo!

  11. Shame - next time give free reign to your emotions.

  12. Oh dear - this is going to become a battle of wills.

I am currently ignoring yet another plea for me (and others) to complete
some nonsensical forms so I can get some "360 degree" feedback. The main
issue behind the forms is how I conduct the performance review process.
There are only a couple of people that I do this for yet I am expected
to get feedback from colleagues who have never witnessed me carry out
the process. On the basis that

    a) the results will be biased if completed by people who know nothing
about how I run the process or
    b) the results will be biased through too small a sample size if I
restrict it to those who do know how I run it

I am refusing to complete the forms. Should be fun when they ring me up
to chase me to complete them.

I would have done had it not been for the fact that there were a)
several very senior managers present and b) the red-head russian chick
I fancy came out with a heavily accented version of "leave it, he's
    not worth it".

    darsy, May 6, 2004
  16. so it wasn't impulse control at all. It was trying to get in a Russian
chick's knickers that did it for you?

Covertly obtain a few pix of him in full flow and forward them to chavscum.
When they're published, advise the rest of the orkers...
