To grease or not to grease - banjo bolts?

  1. So it might be worth replacing the seals a bit before you need to -
perhaps at a point where you already have the fluid drained to fit
    hoses?

Don't be such a twat. If it aint broke, don't fix it.

I've had brake seals last for 20 years, and some last 3 years maximum.
I'm not shelling out 100 quid on a new set of seals for my 9R just
because they might fail tomorrow, when they're working fine today. If
the pistons move freely with little pressure needed, then I leave well
alone. I'll pump the pistons out a bit, squirt some brake cleaner round
and go over them with a toothbrush, a little copper-slip applied and
then shove it all back together...jobs a good 'un until the next set of
    pads is needed.

If you replace seals as a precaution then you're just being stupid.
You'd be replacing the battery every 3 months 'just in case it won't
start in the morning' or tyres 'just in case I get a flat'.

Is it true that your 9R has a special experimental DOT6 brake fluid
    .... in bright green?
