I know - these Avons are tremendous - long lasting and grip better than
any tyre I've ever had before. They start off with /very/ deep tread
that feels a little odd for the first 100 miles, then they are superb.
    As they wear they don't even start whitelining - unlike 020's - I'm a
bit evangelistic about them at the moment.

I prolly don't ride as hard as some of the hero types on this ng - I aim
for smoothness rather than hammering the brakes and engine - which also
halps tyre wear. For a direct comparison, on the Pan, 020's lasted 7000
miles and the front and rear wore out together.

I dunno. TBH in them days I'm not sure I really knew what I was
lloking for anyway. When I had the XT500 in road trim (c/w kwack
    front-end) I think it had TT100s, but I couldn't be sure. And my bro's
    cb900f wot I used for a while - **** knows.

It's also worth noting that in those days tyres were replaced only
when there was no rubber left on them... so pretty much the same as
    now then :-}

Ace fascinated us all by saying...
The later Roadrunners werent bad at all. I had them fitted to my VF400F
cos they were all my mate had in his shop and I was quite impressed with
them, especially in the wet. I had TT100s on just about every RD I owned
until I discovered that ME22 Metzelers fitted nicely. The TT100s were
alright I suppose, but hardly a good tyre.

I always liked roadrunners on my RD400. A TT100 front and roadrunner
rear made an interesting combination though.

  7. When the OE tyres expired, I ran Dunlop K391s, IIRC, on my 350 Power
Valve. These were promoted as the same tyres fitted to the "Pro-Am"
series(where one N. Mackenzie and others first came to
prominence)bikes and seemed more than capable of harnessing my humble
    abilities. :)

Where have you been then? No postings for a few hours, I assumed you
were dead. Can you send the flowers back when they arrive?

If you don't do a lot of hard riding in winter then a set of 010s should
last you. I get about 5000 miles from the front and 3ish from a rear.
They do get me twitchy about riding down motorways as they do seem to
square off quickly. That's not necessarily a bad thing though as it
makes me take more interesting routes.

I had trouble getting my last set of 010s, finally finding them for
195ukp fitted to wheels. They've lasted for 4 and a half months of
general use, and a trackday. There's still a good bit of tread left on
the edges but the middle of the rear is getting down a bit.

FWIW, I've had MEZ4s when I got the bike (bad) 020s after them (much
better) and then 010s since (now near 30k miles). I was thinking of
trying Avons next, but hadn't really investigated.

And also FWIW my SV came with Dunlop D220F's which seem to be doing very
well. I haven't had much reason to ride them in the wet yet though.

Wear seems reasonable, but after only about 200 miles it's a bit early
    to tell.
