Not to stick up for Bill or Brian but since I don't know what their bikes actually look like and why they are that way I have to give them the benefit of the doubt. If Bill has removed the stickers from his fuel tank it might have been due to a number of reasons.
LOL... Yup.. I prefer a clean and uncluttered look.. I have stripped decals and emblems off all the bikes I've ever owned.. My comments
about bad-ass biker wannabees were not aimed at them but at those that dress up for the sole purpose if achieving what I consider the bad-ass biker look. The ones that only care to play biker on the weekends while trying to act like tough guys. It was not meant to mean that everyone that dresses that way is only a wannabee. I know several guys that dress that way and they can ride circles around me.
hmmm... You shouldn't go that far.. Maybe not.. Quite a few of those, including me.. could be riding whatever motorcycle they wanted to ride.. LOL..
But it can not be based on looks alone. You also have to consider why the rider is doing it in the first place. Is it only the look that person is after because of "the image" they think it gives or do they do it because they feel the clothes give them some protection in an accident? Without being a mind reader the only person that knows that answer is the person them self or if that person has made comments in that regard. As I mentioned above since I know nothing about Bill or Brian's style I can not make an opinion either way on whether they are posers or not. Since Bill seems to be active in spreading the news about things that impact our rights as riders I would have to conclude he is far from a poser or weekend warrior. How he dresses is up to him.
Winter time... Jeans, boots.. chaps, vest and jacket.. All leather... hmmm.. gloves ..
Having worked at a dealership in a large city I've had a chance to talk to a lot of people about why they own this or that model bike and why they wear the gear that they do. A lot of guys were doing it for the look alone and were open about it which I have no problem with. But I did run in to a few people that acted embarrassed to own a metric bike and tried to hide that fact while dressed up all in leather and wearing Harley clothes. They too were in it for the looks but did everything they could to pretend their bike was not a Harley. Those are the ones I get a kick out of. But as I said not all riders are like that and just the mere fact of owning a Harley like bike and wearing a leather jacket does not constitute a Harley wannabee.
Surprising how many people, think any cruiser style motorcycle is nothing more than a Harley lookalike.. Last I heard.. all the manufacturers are building cruisers.. I rode dressers/tourers for a lotta years and miles.. I don't want to contend with the weight, anymore.. Now I ride a cruiser.. I've always believed that when Harley built the Heritage Classic.. it was the best looking motorcycle on the road... My Vulcan is detailed like the Heritage, because I like the look.. Anyone who mistakes that Vulcan for a Harley, doesn't know what he's looking at, anyway..
