    Hello!

    I have a 99 with 9k owned since new.

After aggressive rides and not so aggressive long rides it will puff smoke
    sometimes while ridding.

They next day or after sitting a while after **IT WILL SMOKE A LOT** when
started!! I mean a lot! If I turn it off after a few minutes the pipes
smoke like a cigar!!! NO JOKE! I HAVE VIDEO!

Do any of you have this problem!!!

PLEASE HELP ME AND RE-PLY TO THIS MESSAGE TELLING ME SIMPLY:
    * IF YOURS DOES OR DOES NOT SMOKE LIKE THIS
    * WHAT YEAR, AND
    * HOW MANY MILES

Here is what the Suzuki rep told my shop:
"The TL smoking is due to oil being burned. This oil is transferred when the
engine is ran at high rpm's. It forces oil from the sump into the crankcase
breather. The oil is then deposited into the airbox and picked up by the
engine when restarted. Smoking will continue until the oil is burned up.
Keeping your "revs" a little lower will improve this situation. Apparently
Suzuki has modified the breather system several times over the years in
production, but according to our rep the 1999 has the latest version already
    installed."

Thanks, I really need your help!

  2. Sounds about right. An overfill condition would only exacerbate this.
Keep the oil on the low side of full. Looking at the fiche I see it
has an external baffle in line with the PCV hose. You could try one
off another bike. Obviously the current one sucks ass.

Otherwise you might want to try this... Take a length of hose, attach
one end to the crankcase breather with a clamp, run it along the
length of your frame to the rear and add a little breather at the end.
Like those mini airfilter looking things. Keep the end past the rear
tire if you're paranoid about spills. If the vent ejaculates oil it'll
be held in the hose and drain back into the engine. Clear reinforced
tubing lets you see what's going on.

Some folks swear by this. They say it keeps the oil mist from being
sucked into the engine which is reponsible for carbon desposits. This
ain't exactly true, since a properly running engine will burn said
deposits off and you also defeat the purpose of crankcase ventilation
    which is being less stinky.

My Kawi Vulcan 800 came with a tiny bottle at the end of a long tube
that runs along the front right tube. Each time I change my oil, I
empty the oil collected in the little bottle. Nice, clean, non-smoking,
    simple fix.
