Did it just suddenly stop working, or did it start misfiring first when
    hot?

Only indication that I had was that it stalled on (IIRC) Friday when
cold (about 30 secs after start). When restarted it was a tad lumpy
until it warmed. I then did 60 miles to and 60 miles from work in the
evening with no issues. Saturday I installed a new cable for my Klan
gear, but with nothing plugged in. Fired up fine when I checked.
Sunday, went to put fuel in it, not a dicky bird.

AA delivering tomorrow , I hope. I have to wait for the 24 hours 'you're
taking the piss waiting for your vehicle to break down before paying the
    extra £46' timeout to expire.

Doesn't sound like the dreaded ignition pick-up coil then.

You have checked the kill-switch I presume...

    Dreaded? Why so?
    Indeed <proud>

In fact the kill on these is basically a second ignition. You get
nothing, no idiot lights, no display.
The local chaps (HPS in Harlow, jolly good people) have been over it and
diagnosed an acute lack of spark. Which is where they had to stop as
they don't have a diagnostic PC.

Because they have a habit of teasing you before finally giving up
    completely.

Ahhh. And I thought it might mean that the entire engine would need to
be disassemebled to it's components and a new unit hand fabricated from
    purest unobtanium.

I tend to agree with you.
I know Rob as a personal friend, and he is _usually_ very helpful. But I
guess, even helpful people can have off days?
