**** that's a bit rough. 3 tickets for one offence.
It's worth the gamble to see if they can fit me in within 12 months. Imagine
if everyone requested a court hearing, we'd all get off.

Exactly. They also might start to get the message that we are all fed up
    with it.

The magistrate has the power to fine you up to the maximum specified in
the Act (or Regulation). James is right, you will not win (because the
whole process is rigged), but he is not right that it's no worse than the
ticket. It could be a whole lot worse, like thousands per offence; it's
entirely up to how the beak feels on the day. The risk would be
acceptable to some, less so to others.

I got nabbed in Victoria about 18 months ago at 147km/h, but I thought I'd
take it to court to see if I could get a lenient sentence since I has 0
demerit points at the time. No joy, but I lucked out and they forgot to fine
    me.

Today is my last day of a 12 month suspension.

Day 2 of license back, gets pulled over and nailed for unpaid fine,
    whats the bet.

Yeah, Dave, from personal experience go and get, in writing,
confirmation of your status re outstanding fines..

(In writing 'cos then you can show it in court if you have to)

I concur. Forgot to fine him? What an oxymoron! They might forget to send
the letter, but there's a damn good chance the fine is lurking around some
    computer somewhere...
