Charity workers, harrasing people in the street trying to get them to
    sign up to give-as-you-earn schemes:

Stop wasting your time hassling busy Londoners, and try peddling your
guilt-bonds somewhere people are actually gullible enough to give a
    ****.

I always try to reply something along the lines of:

mon singe est dans un arbre

Non, "Mon singe". Mais "Il y a" est bien aussi.

(ie just some bollox, and they always say, oh, OK, and Don't bother you
    anymore)

I know. The original phrase was coined by some comic (can't remember
who) and also used in the Tin Tin comics. It's "Il y a un" not "Mon"

  11. Death is the only answer. I detest these people who are all sincere
about Oxfam one minute and then one quick change of a tabard later they
are praising the activities of the World Wildlife Fund (or whatever).
    Yuk!

Whilst I don't particularly like the direct approach charity fund raisers
I can't follow your distaste based on their ability to sell two different
    products effectively.

Although, I have to say, I find it preposterous that Sainsburys can sell
Sugar Puffs and Rice Crispies ON THE SAME SHELF!

  14. I just think they are hypocrites and no better than double glazing
salesmen. I would be far more likely to be persuaded by someone who
genuinely believed in the charity they were promoting rather than just
trotting some revolting sales patter. At least some charities have
realised that the use of street hawkers is counter productive.
Yes it is awful isn't it. Nice to see the sarcasm is as fit as ever.

  15. Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, Paul Corfield
I got quite shouty with one charity mugger a while back. She was the
fourth person to try to stop me (for the same fucking charity) within a
200 yard stretch of London Road in Twickers.

Actually, technically, she was the third. Only she was on her second
    attempt.

I'm quietly confident that she'll remember me next time.
