....which Microsoft had nowt to do with designing. DOS was an OS whose
design was laid down by a company other than Microsoft, and it was much
akin to (and designed to be very easy to port code from) CP/M.

Now "Microsoft Bob", that's the sort of thing Bill Gates can be justly
    proud of.

If you're into mutual benefit, you might like to consider benefiting
other users of this particularly high-volume newsgroup and in future,
posting your replies below the text to which you are replying - having
    snipped signatures and irrelevant text.

If I was Bill Gates I'd be justly proud of putting a computer on
    virtually every office workers desk.

Please don't try and give me a history lesson on OSes, especially when you don't
don't know it was actually called QDOS [1] prior to Bill stepping in.

Why DR never sued them I don't know, now DR-DOS, tehre was a *very* good
    OS.

Sadly, I have to agree with you, it is like Mr H.T.Ford looking at our
    crammed streets and roads now.

Full of cheap shite, with a few decent models thrown in.

    Yes, very well put Y*T*C! I agree- I >don't don't< know that, IOW I
do/did know it was called QDOS. Hacked into existence by a company
called Seattle Computer *mumble* or something like that.

Did you think I was implying that _you_ *didn't* know that MS didn't
create MS-DOS? I assumed that you being a known computo boffin, that
you naturally would know that. I was pointing out that DOS was really
a re-labeled OS, which I knew was called QDOS, but didn't bother to
    point that factoid out.
    Agreed. As was CP/M-86.

It had died a death well before then, people didn't seem to want a
    multiuser DOS.

True. I had a bit of experience with it, but not much. After Y2K, none
    at all.
