Just got off the phone with Buddy Helscel in Casa Grande.. He seems to be
    doing
much better, these days.. (for the ones who have met him)

We're planning a little run out there, just to spend a little time with him
    and his
lovely wife, Clara.. They've sure been through some hard times, healthwise..

Anyway.. it's a good excuse to make a little run on the Green One.. lol..

Probably going to make that run during the last week of October.. That
    should
be just ahead of the cold weather.. (fingers crossed) Regards

    Start address: Arlington, TX
    End address: Casa Grande, AZ
Distance: 1,001 mi (about 18 hours 17 mins)

You oughta' start publishing a "Vulcan Road Riders"
magazine, where VO's can relate their riding exper-
    iences, chain/belt conversions, various accessories,
    maintenance tips, etc.

At the absolute least, it seems that Kawasaki should
feature you as an MVR(Most Valuable Rider).

As you know.. I'm retired and flexible.. whether leaving or coming back..
I just got off the phone with our friend and haven't even looked at my
    calendar.
hmmm.. Hadn't given any thought to who might want to go along on this ride,
    but
as usual.. anyone who likes, is surely welcome.. Any suggestions for times
    and dates
    are welcome, also.. Regards.. Redshad

Well hell, Gary.. and whoo hoo.. I've given Kawasaki
a lot of hell, over the years.. lol.. They sure built a good
motorcycle.. At least, this little Vulcan has been one..

I don't think anything that I've done towards maintenance
has been out of the ordinary.. The accessories that I've
built onto the bike, have all been practical and served
    a purpose..

I appreciate the kind thoughts, especially after you are
one that has seen the Green One, up close..Your response
is considered quite a compliment, by me..

It's time for you to break out on that Valkyrie and make
a little run with us.. This trip to Arizona would be an
excellent opportunity .. You are invited.. Regards

I'm too much of a candy ass to ride off on a long trip
via a motorcycle. Actually, I'd have to even give very
serious thought to makin' such a trip in my truck. <g>

Maybe, I could start a competitive ride to counter the
Iron Butt Rally - I'd call it the Marshmallow Butt. We'd
all start off on one side of the street, ride to the other
side, dismount, and break for drinks.

    Great Fun!

<chuckle> We didn't ride far, but we had us a little ride
the other day.. You'd do just fine on a ride with me or the
crew that I ride with.. We aren't competing or trying to
outdo anyone.. hmmm.. Matter of fact, those guys usually
ride down to my level, anymore..

Bet you'd enjoy the trip.. Regards

Yeah, you're probably right, but I always have con-
cerns about mechanical failure on the road, and the
drone of the highway get excessively boring. To the
point of being a sedative. I'm probably the only one
ever known to have actually "nodded off" while
    riding.

You/ya'll make enough trips frequently, that I might
gut up and join in sometime. Now that my spouse
is home daily, my responsibilities can be temporarily
    shifted.

LOL, no it's not age, I'm 56. I just get bored with the
rumble of the highway. Boredom leads to inattentive-
ness, and we know where that goes.

Besides, at least for me, it becomes uncomfortable to
ride on a MC for much over an hour. I do some wig-
glin' around, but there's not too many positions avail-
    able.

Riding 100's of miles without a windscreen probably
doesn't help, but I get similar distractions in a car or
    a plane.

Well, shoot. I hate that for 'ya.
Motorcycle riding is an endurance type sport, to an extent. I've been on
some trips, where I've ask myself ''what was I thinking''?
Atleast it dont seem to bother you atall, to admit it. Not many would
say it like you said it. They offer some kind of body problem, dont want
anyone thinking they are not Real Riders, I expect.
I admit, I am not good @ riding in the rain, I mean I'm about 1/2
skeerd, to ride in a hard rain. But, I've had to, to get home. but it
always has made me nervous! It is an added risk, that I am not too
    crazy about~!~ regards, Bjay

Ironically, it's challenging riding conditions where I am
at my best. It keeps me alert, breaks the boredom, and
    exhilarates the process.

I've been riding since I was a kid. If I ever had anyth-
ing to prove concerning skill/endurance/ability, it's long
since dissipated by now. I guess I could be labeled
a poser if I had a shiny new chromed out Harley. But,
on a dirty/beat up Valkyrie, no one notices.

    So, keep it quite.... shhhh...
