Put some insulting tape on top of the amalgamating, it's (usually) not
    UV proof.

It is, when you're a TFC.

Kit ordered already and in the post. Now I've got to decide what PC to
put it into. A rebuild of my PVR may be in order to make sure it's up
to spec on the HD part.

Well, it's early days but it does seem better. Has crashed once, mind.

    Ta for that.

When your region starts the analogue switch off, it will get flaky for
a while, as they make you re-tune a couple of times, but once the
crackly band goes off, the signal power is raised10x, so it's not
working as hard to grab a signal and cope with the faulty stream, just
prune out the crap, each time. The biggest problem is the machine
keeps reading the data channels, slowing thing down, that's why
    binning them helps.

BTW, Humax boxes require a full reset, when they tell you to re-tune.

  6. The upgrade treadmill strikes again.
Same here - I've been out of the upgrade loop for a couple of years and
am finding out what's what with current CPUs /MBs /memory.
If I get this box up to snuff and have it as an HD processer, I can use
another PC networked to it as my HTPC, directly driving the projectors.

Before you hit the buy button, take a look at the Vu+ Duo. It's the same
chipset as the Dreambox and is getting some pretty good early reports.

Spec is close to the 8000 but the price is closer to the 800.
