Utter bollocks, and btw, it's called The Gut.
John Wayne may have won WW2 with psychology, dramatic effects and his
famous Slow Walks of Deadly Anticipation, but the reality in mainland
Britain is a different kettle of sealife. Added to that, you're about as
far removed from John Wayne as it's possible to get.

Someone running towards a gang puts them immediately on the defensive
and they'll tuck in tight, as close in to behind the biggest as they can
get. Anyone walking slowly up to a gang of youths is a fool, as they'll
just spread themselves around him ready to box him in.

Hit hard, hit fast works for me.

    Right, ta.

It does indeed. Fists, feet, knees, elbows, anything hard and knobbly
in a 5 second furious frenzied attack does tend to put them off just a
    bit.

  4. Was it Rollerball (the original) where they shot up some trees with
lasers for no apparent reason about two thirds of the way through
    the film?

There is a bit of a recoil, but not much. It's more the fact that
you've got to lug it on your shoulder (and use both hands). In this
respect, a pillion would be handy. They could do the work.
Hmm, where would you attach it, for it to go off?

Or was it "riding around *in* a triumph, fitted with cannons".

    ITYM:

"Richie loved to use 22s because the bullets are small and they don't
come out the other end like a 45. See, a 45 will blow a hole like a barn
door out the back of your head and there's a lot of dry cleaning
involved. But a 22 will just rattle around like Pac-Man until you're dead."

http://www.metalstorm.com/ has very low recoil, low weight
would work on a bike easily.

The CIA manufactured a weapon for clandestine ops called the venus. It
was a twin barrel magazine fed .22 full auto. One 50 round magazine per
barrel. And of course it was silenced. I don't remember how or why I
came by this info and google choked on the search.

A biker in Texas did in fact have a running gun battle with the
occupants of a car, I think last year. They exchanged several shots
until the car driver thought '**** this' and ran the biker over.

I'll see if I can find the link.
