And when you move the wheel backwards, what happens then? Does the chain
magically stop wearing out the sprocket?

Or the fact that cats are only to be considered these days if they're
husbanded properly allowing for future regrowth.

Cats are a naturally-occurring, renewable resource. They don't need to be
    managed, just harvested.

    The message <Gakbl.4266$2>
I've never held on to a totally fucked sprocket - indeed, I can't
remember ever having had one. Seen them, yes. (In the early '60s I was a
motorcycle mechanic in a shop where we saw mainly SOBs. On customers'
bikes, aprucked fockets were not unknown...)

Try it - the same amount pulls off the back of the sprocket - assuming
    it's chain wear you've got...

They were saying that about fish stocks in the '70s.

Where can you buy fish stock cubes these days?

Barking? No, no, that would scare off the cats.

Yeah, but they were over-fished. Cats are unlikely to be over-pussied.

Keeps floppy-brimmed hats looking smart, provided you've wiped the oil
    off first.

    Rumbled.

Having said that, I still have a small stack of spare 530 rear sprockets
to fit a Morini rear hub - only they are not totally fucked and all have
    a different number of teeth.

Now there's a thought - or at least a double clanger setup. It would
save time when gearing up/down. Or a cunning gearbox like the Suzuki
    Trail Cat of yesteryear.
