"For pushing the race bike harder than anyone"
Absolutely - a heroic effort. I'm sure that Alex/Champ will be along shortly to give chapter & verse of what happened, but it's safe to say that we had a few fuelling problems during the day. Oh, and many thanks to whoever brought along those delicious little Cornish pasties. Very nice. Thank you. nr.
Too knackered now. Didn't get home till gone 1:30am. I've got just one question though... Whose idea of an amusing jape was it to connect the fuel pump up back to front, leaving me to push a dead (and heavy) bike about a mile across a ploughed field, on a hot day, wearing full leathers and a motorcycle helmet. Hmmm? The day was meant to be about endurance, as a motorcycle sport. Not, Endurance, the Japanese game show. ;o) But we finished! I was determined that come what may, that the bike was going to make the chequered flag and it did. It was a fantastic performance from all concerned. The result may have been poor in terms of position, but I for one was on a big high, taking the flag at the eighth hour and shaking hands with everyone in the parc ferme afterwards. -- Alex BMW R1150GS DIAABTCOD#3 MSWF#4 UKRMFBC#6 Ibw#35 BOB#8 http://www.team-ukrm.co.uk Windy's "little soldier"
Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, Alex Ferrier Oh you do make a fuss. I mean, *I* pushed it all the way from parc ferme back to the pit garage. I had to have a little lie down afterwards, but I think I've made my point. That you did. Well batted.
Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, ogden Sorry I didn't introduce myself Oggers. And the ignorant bastards you were with certainly weren't going to do it either, were they?
Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, ogden You're a dead man. And you're not even getting 28 days notice. Actually, I thought you were SteveH for a while.
Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, Porl Where's my fucking Fererro Rocher, you ****? <blushes, stares at feet>
Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, Champ Heh. You improved as the day went on. As I said, after your first stint I was trying to remember the correct ratio for chest compressions to breaths.
Champ says... Heh, I came over to say hello during your second stop and the mechanics were swarming all over the bike and you were sitting outside the pits looking totally knackered and utterly pissed off. I thought it best if I came back later...
On Mon, 16 Aug 2004 11:33:53 +0100, nr blathered on about: [snip] Heh, technically, that was I, but Suze bought 'em and organised most the nutrition-related stuff. Neither she or I remembered to earhole the assembled masses for their "dinner money" though and along with the general failure to communicate experienced elsewhere, yesterday, it'll have to wait 'til next time. Good effort everyone and a big thanks to Neil, Mark and Scott for their assistance; best of luck starting your own team, guys. -- | Wik -UKRMHRC#10- 2003 R1150GSA -DC#1 -'FOT#0 'FOF #39 - BOD#12 BOB#12 |# You don't believe me | "Experience is the worst teacher. |That the scenery | It always gives the test first |Could be a cold-blooded killer. | and the instruction afterward." ***** human response from wik at blueyonder dot co dot uk *****
