    The B12, that is....

Meself and Flook popped down to collect it, yesterday.

Dan was spot on - it's bloody lovely!

Fruity Art can fitted and a new MoT....well worth the agreed price.
    Original can thrown in, too.

Loaded up, called Dan and met up for a drink. Leffe Brun on tap.....
    lovely!

After a good natter, we decided to head north. Dan lead us through the
countryside, to a point where we could join the M40 past all the usual
    bottlenecks. Cheers, Dan!

After a tedious and crap drive back, we unloaded. Twas then I discovered
the switch like properties of the clutch.

I tried to ride it into the yard and then my shed, but kept stalling.
However, it was past all the big kerbs and steps, so a push finally got it
    in the shed.

As I'm sick of fucking about paying for insurance adjustments, I'm keeping
it SORNed until the inswearants renewal is due in April.

First job is a hugger.... then figure out what's up with the RHS bar
    weight.

Whatever it screws into appears to have lost its threads. The screw is
fine. Good job I noticed it at the pub....

Is this a known problem? Any good solutions - other than leave it off.....
'S got a datatool alarm, so out with the optimate on a weekly basis (no
    leccy in the shed).

I'm somewhat chuffed - let's see how long my licence lasts after April.

    Prace bets now!

Is it not one of those things where you turn the screw, that pulls in
something at the other end? As the thing is pulled in, it either
splays some flaps outward (pushing them into the inner of the bar) to
make them grip, or squashes some rubber or something like that. Sound
    plausible?

Clutch on mine is perfect and that's with a 996 rear end which hosts no
cush drive. Big Girl's Blouse I reckon.
**** all this SORN stuff, get the fecker out on the road where it
    belongs.

ATM, it'd prolly end up down the road... bit greasy round here.... ok for
the 450, but not good for getting used to a fast bike wif a on/off
    clutch....

I did that on Saturday, but only managed 170mph due to traffic on the
single carriageway road I was on at the time. The A6 rocks.

Bet you won't think that if you were to use it exclusively (or
    near-as-dammit, anyway) tomorrow...

I'll cross the A6 tomorrow at Penrith, but I won't have any cause to
actually use it on my way up there. I live about 2 miles from the A6 at
this end, and our offices are about 2 miles from the A6 but over 300
    miles north.

Indeed. It would be an absolutely pointless thing to do. There are
some nice bits on the A6 up this end, although some of it is also
based on Roman road routes, and therefore boring as all **** to ride
    (the scenery is pleasant).

According to Google Earth, Flitwick town centre to Pallet Hill is 207
miles as the crow flies. According to www.theaa.com, you can drive it
in about 260 miles. What's that, 2 hours by Gixer?

It's 4 1/2 hours by Golf SDi. I've never taken the Gixer up there, but
did attend my 2nd interview on the Thunderace. I can't remember how long
it took to get up there.

Best I've done going that way is Kempston, Beds to Carlton Village on
the A6 at Carlisle in 3hrs 40 minutes in a Citroen AX GT. We went the
    normal M1/A1 - A66 route.

Not bad! I know there are no fixed cameras up this way (yet), but
there are mobile patrols about. <Googles> They will be on the A66 and
    A6 tomorrow, so take care.

No problem. It's from the camera agency's own website,
www.cumbriasafetycameras.org, and we know what we think of "safety"
cameras. Most likely locations are along the Warcop
single-carriageway stretch (between the Cumbria/North Yorkshire border
and Appleby) and the Crackenthorpe single-carriageway after the
Appleby dual-c. section. Of course, PC Plod could have the lasers out
anywhere, although AFAIK they're most busy around Carlisle at the
    moment.
