Put me on the "interested" list, but I can't commit to anything until I
know a date, and get clearance from the Holidays & Leisure Sub-Committee.

I'm in, assuming I make it back from the MV tour in one piece.

  10. Is that the final date? I need to get a holiday booked if it is (long
story about the intricate nature of my teams holiday booking process).

I've been toying with the idea of a trackday for years, but somehow
it's never happened. Of course, riding all the way over to Blighty
might seem a bit stupid, but I'll give it some thought.

OTOH has anyone got a spare gixxer they'd lend me if I flew over for
    it?

    Ain't dat da troof
Silverstone. 2001. So called instructor the manager of a well ranked BSB
rider. Hottrax. Streaming rain, standing water everywhere.
Him: new well prepared GSXR600 trakkie on inters
    Me: newish 996 on 010's
Gave me a 5 min briefing. Told me to tuck in close and watch for his
braking/turn in/gas points. I was trying to get through a long standing
    ability barrier.

~Lap two, overcooked the finish straight, missed the braking point.
Threw his bike up the track. I had no chance to recover, watching him
and not the track see. Fortunately I decided to brake in a straight line
and tried for a clean entry into the pea gravel. Kept it upright. Axle
deep in gravel rear and headlight deep in front!! mostly polished out.

    Beware

Want training? go to the Haslam/California school or somesuch and use
their bikes. I used the former at Knockhill, track ready CBR600's.
    Excellent.

Well I'm not going to be fussy about this - I'll just use the 10R if
you've got rid of the gixxer.

I have to say that the track didn't particularly grab me when I looked
at the course map, but I hadn't thought of this side of it. Being
given a few pointers from those more able would make the day far more
worthwhile than just letting loose for an afternoon.

I'll start considering again. Oh, and what's an easy way to measure
the loudness of your pipe without a decibel-ometer[1]?

[1] or whatever such a device is called.

  17. Blimey. Prices have gone up a bit. I've never paid more than that at
Mallory Park. And "full noise trackday"? Didn't know there was any other
type at Mallory. They've always had rules about finishing by 5pm though.

    Start bike

    Stand next to bike

Rev it a few times (generous handful)

If you are deaf, or have heart failure - its too loud. ;-)

If a neighbour comes over and twats you with something heavy - its just
    mildly offensive.
